relay problems
So I removed the door chime relay due to these problems:
1. Wouldn't stop ding-ing! 2. No interior lights 3. Digital clock flashing 4. Passenger side door lock is acting like a slave to driver's side (if I unlock the driver side then lock the passenger side it will lock and then unlock itself i.e. back to whatever position the driver's side is at) but I miss my lights and clock. Can I snipe a wire to stop the door chime and get my lights and clock back on or is it a bad relay? 1985 928S |
Sounds like two different problems.
The lights/dinging sounds as if you have a problem with the door/hatch grounding switches that operate the interior lights. Brown/white wires should be grounded only when a door or the hatch is open. Another possibility is a short circuit to the body on the power wire for the light above the rear view mirror - pretty common. Lock problem sounds like door lock switch/wire problem. The system tries to ensure that the door locks match. If they don't match (if the driver's door is unlocked or the switch/wire makes it appear to be unlocked) the passenger door will immediately unlock. |
I checked the light over the rear view mirror and it seems to be intact. How do I access the brown and white door/hatch grounding wires?
