Default Rear Hatch Glass sealant/adhesive ????

Trying to fix a water leak in the rear roof/hatch area.
The hinge on one side is leaking so we will fix that with some new gaskets and some RTV maybe.
We removed the glass and cleaned up the glass to hatch area.
We now want to replace the glass but need to know what the recommendation is for the sealant.
What should we use?
Thanks in advance,
Roger

I've used 3m windo-weld urethane and it was a pleasure to work with. You apply it with a caulk gun.
RTC silicon is way overused IMO and not what to do here.

Roger, just out of curiousity, do you have a source for new rear hatch glass, or are you putting in used?

I think he means 're-install' it.

Roger,
Why not just hire an windshield installer to come re-install it for you? I have local names if you're interested. That way, they can bring their own product with them. And, if something unfortunate happens, it's on their dime.

John,
Glass is already out so I would prefer to do it myself. My body shop did it last time and I was not impressed.

Tom,
I am reinstalling the original.

I just redid mine due to the fact that the glass shattered on me due to a stupid move.

I got a tube of eurathane adhesive from the local store for $11 and redid it myself.

Doesnt leak a drop and I know it was cleaned properly too.

When I did mine I got windshield adhesive from Autozone. I think it was about $12.00 for one tube which was more than enough.

Oh yes, when I did the hatch on my wife's former 968, it was a huge PITA. I used 3M windoweld urethane and also the primer that goes with it (pretty sure the primer is required). It fit into a caulk gun and I got it at NAPA for I think around $30 - $40. I'm sure the 928 hatch would be much easier with a substantial frame, not like the 944/968 that has the thinnest flimsiest piece of aluminum you've ever seen holding the glass in place.

Roger,

What process did you use to get the glass out? What sealant did you end up using?

Thanks
