Well, I'm a new member and I own a '91 'H' reg Porsche 928 5.0!
I can't stop telling myself - I own a Porsche!
Well, here's the story:
I injured my leg a few years ago and ever since it's been pretty temperamental and driving a manual Citroén Xantia and Ford Focus hasn't really helped it, so the doctor adviced I bought an Automatic. So I mentioned this to my friend who breaks car parts, but occasionally he has a few whole cars in that don't need any/minimal work done on them. So he said he had a few Auto's.
After a 5 minute drive down there in his Automatic 1990 Jaguar XJ-S V12 (and him telling me I couldn't buy it from him!) we got to his "forecourt" (basically a muddy field hahaha )
The first car I drove was a 1992 Jaguar Daimler, and it was good but when he said he had another car for me to try I suspected it to be a Nissan Bluebird or something, but when we turned the corner I saw her... A 1991 Snow-White Porsche 928 with a 4-speed Automatic in MINT condition.
Trust me I almost fainted (wouldn't you!?)
Cut a long story short I drove it away after parting with £1,995 (mates rates, it was originally listed for £2,750! )
It has an alarm, immobiliser, remote locking, electric windows, electric sunroof, Air-Conditioning, ABS, Original Alloys, CD Player, the lot! This car makes the phrase "Fully Loaded" sound like an understatement!
Here's the work that's been done on it in the last 12 months by the previous owner:
New Cam-Belt, pulleys, tensioner and waterpump in January 2010: ODO Reading - 111,981. Carried out by a main Porsche dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £514.98
Aftermarket CD player fitted in December 2009. Total cost - £299.99
Alloy Refurbishment in March 2010: ODO Reading - 122,089. Carried out by a main Porsche Dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £99.99
Full Service (Spark plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter) in July 2010: ODO Reading - 129,910. Carried out by a main Porsche Dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £210.82
Full exhaust system (twin tail-pipes) in June 2010: ODO Reading - 127,666 (I know... Spooky eh ?). Carried out by a main Porsche Dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £554.95
New Serpentine Belt in August 2010: ODO Reading 130,019. Carried out by a main Porsche Dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £109.00
New front brake disks & pads in October 2009: ODO Reading - 98,120. Carried out by a main Porsche Dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £234.98
5X New tyres (Continental Sport) in July 2010: ODO Reading 129,550. Carried out by Kwik-Fit. Total Cost - £629.99 (Includes fitting to alloys)
New fuel tank in December 2009: ODO Reading - 105,007. Carried out by a main Porsche Dealer. Total Cost (Inc VAT) - £100.00
New windscreen wipers (including rear wiper) in July 2010. Total Cost £12.
And that is all the receipts I have for the car! As you can see the previous owner did like to keep the ole Porsche ship-shape!
Incase you were wondering the current millage is - 130,492.
The car also had some wheel arch rust professionally repaired a couple of years ago but I don't have a receipt for that.
Anyway! What do you guys think ? Sounds like a peach to me

Sounds great! Welcome to the tank!
Be sure and check your flexplate tension right away. You will want to use a device such as the Constantine clamp or PKlamp to keep the flexplate happy. Do a search for TBF and become familliar with the car. You gotta post some photos!
Best Regards,
Mike

You absolutely, positively stole that car if it is in good nick--Clarkson bought an older car with a broken piston ring and nearly everything else not working for GBP1500 so you did real well. I would advise having a PPI (Post Purchase Inspection) done by someone who knows these cars like Paul Anderson or Chris Sanderson look it over in detail.

No I'm not Mike Brewer haha
Yep, 1,950GBP!
I'm going to clean and polish her tomorrow so pics will follow then!
I also did an HPI check on the car and it came up clear! And after going onto the DVLA website to see the MOT history, it's passed EVERY SINGLE MOT from new!! EVERY - SINGLE - ONE!! It only once had an advisory notice and it was just on one issue - "O/S Wiper blade incapable of clearing windscreen effectively. Not yet considered dangerous."
And that was in 1999!! From 1991-2010 it only ever had one advisory, and never failed! What a motor!!

What is the Serpentine belt referred to in Autumn of 2010? It looks like the timing belt was replaced in January 2010. 928's don't use what is normally referred to as a serpentine belt.

A 91 for less than 2000 quid? There's something more to this story. The general rule is if you buy it cheap, it won't be.
Does it start easily when hot?
How did he drive it 31K miles between December and March? Wow!
Anyway, I hope the car is fine and treats you well.

Apologies if I seem a little sceptical.
