Default Looking at getting this for the wife

I may drive down one evening and take a look at it.
I understand the from some reading that 84 auto is a good transmission
Anyone know about this car?

No, but the CL ad is a bunch of nonsense.
Car looks ok, but price seems way-high.
Its clearly a USA 84, not a Euro twin dizzy.
Based on pictures its a well-used DD, which will require 3 to 5 K maint, assuming engine and trans are solid.
Just a cursory look, but I've been doing such for 36months obsessively and am probably right.

Some red flags, copy and paste ad from Wikipedia and a picture of himself at the computer WTF?? No mileage on ad or any details as to what maintenance has been completed. Looks dirty, cheezy door speakers, passenger side mirror glass looks broken (could be just the pic). No under hood pics and asking top $$ for an 84 auto. If it isn't too much out of your way go look at it but I wouldn't make a special trip.

Well, If you aren't too concerned with the year, I have a low milage 79 Euro that I will soon be selling that is in awsome shape. It is lite bleu metalic/black, automatic, and I have done all the maintenance including gas tank, struts, cv joints, electrical, tb/wp and just about everything else you can think of. It is not perfect, needs front seat bottoms recovered and ac o-rings and the leather on the dash is pulling back. I know it is the o-rings because you can charge the system and it cools well, just only lasts a couple of weeks. It is the new stuff. I even have the o-rings. I bought this car from Ohio in 2004 with 37k miles on it. It now has 72 or so. Runs great and drives well. Not sure about the price but 6k is what I would like to get.

Thanks,

This 928 is on Ebay here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...SS%3AUS%3A1123

Gives a lot more info, and the price is a ton lower!

I think this VA beach seller is one to totally avoid.

Ditto sarasota, why take on a failed project.

Get a running one that hasn't already become a languishing project car if its for your wife.

The massachusetts car was the right price / condition of a project car. Running.

I agree the VA beach is not a euro .

I'm figuring anything I buy will need at least 4,000-5000 worth of work before the princess will be seen in it. (If i do it myself, with help ) Also there is another motive here. If she has one, it makes buying parts easier. She won't know which car they will are for.

Agreed with the others. Don't buy a project. There is a nice fairly low mile 80 for sale near me. Silver/black leather, auto. I think the seller wants 8 something, but he isn't sure of a number, so probably anything reasonable to an enthusiast would do it.. He has a pristine, award winning 356C coupe too - not for sale!

For the EURO cars '84 was the first year of the 4 spd auto. For US cars the 4 spd came in '83...I just learned this the other day actually! I thought the 4 spds only came in '84...I was wrong! There is a first for everything! LOL!

The "price" is the current auction bid, which has little bearing on the selling price, plus its reserve not met.

Read the sellers feedback, buyer claiming fraud and misrepresentation on other car sold a month ago.

Car looks kind of familiar to me, like I have seen it other than ebay or cl or previously on one of them.

I love that you're buying your wife a 928. The question is, are you really buying it for her, or for you?
Regardless, any wife who would be excited about a 928 is OK in my book

Why a Euro with an automatic? The Euro motor behaves just like a plain 16v until at least 3500 rpm. The US 32v motor will have a solid advantage at lower rpms, making it much more suitable with an automatic.
