He was "chased off" the first time long before Gretch was a moderator. He was allowed to come back due to IB not really paying attention and a "changing of the guards" when Randy V stepped down as mod.

Gretch doesn't have any moderator rights on Reutterwerk.

Sorry, trying to pin his undoing on Gretch or any other moderator is like like blaming your choice of brake fluid for a failed rod bearing.

Fact is, even though mason's business user id was banned here on renny, his personal user id was allowed to remain active.

It still is and, that was my doing.......

My theory was that as long as he behaved himself as an individual, there was no point in going all punitive on him.

I admit I was not a fan of his business practices..........

However, I do understand the need for most all of us to find fault with what ever version of "the man", that irritates us at the moment. I am a known critic of "Authority".

In accepting the responsibilities of a moderator, I expect to be on the receiving end of some of that animosity..... I am not broken hearted about it, I don't take it personal and likely will continue to point out things I find irritating, as well.

Bedside manner?? yeah it is what it is............good luck with the quest for perfection, as it is in the eye of the beholder......... all, uniquely different, 6 and a half billion of them.

sincerely, "stupid".

Members? Users? Makes no difference to me. I frequently "use" my "member".

This from the person that probably represents the lowest contributing value in relation to their post count

I treat and read each post without prejudice until such person offends or attacks another. It is one thing to voice complaint but another to do so without full effort to reconcile the issues when it comes to the hallowed, deservedly so, vendors that support our 928 interests.

Lug used in a sentence "to lug a suitcase upstairs" and wrench in a sentence "When she fell, she wrenched her ankle"
I suppose you would store it in a trunk; The main stem of a tree or a large sturdy box. Maybe she was lugging a main stem of a tree stored in a trunk up the stairs and wrenched her ankle in doing so?

Taxi!

I think that people are combining multiple issues here. The respect of members vs. users, i totally agree with you Sean. There should be no difference, and curt replies to use the search function or read the FAQ aren't the most welcoming. However, these responses are present on every enthusiast forum that I follow. Many are much worse than Rennlist.

Regarding someone new to the forum who posts criticism of certain vendors (without really trying to resolve the issue off line or even understanding the history of who they are slamming in an anonymous post) , they deserve to be jumped on. I'm not talking about all vendors, but small vendors who substantially contributed to this hobby and are not major corporations, then yes, they deserve special consideration. The issue is that these vendors are effectively helpless in the forums. 928 Specialists can't really come on here to defend themselves against some anonymous poster, it wouldn't reflect well on them unless the situation was really egregious. But it's okay for someone who has no clue to come on and call their service crap? That has the potential to directly affect their business, and they have earned enough goodwill that they should be protected (within reason).

I'm not blaming the board for his outcome. I'm unhappy with the shown bias. Look at the difference in how the recent 928 Specialist situation has been handled. In this situation Gretch dumped on the one making the complaint. I don't think the moderator should show his feelings one way or the other in these situations.

Between Randy and Gretch, I'm guessing the score in your book is 0 for 2?

I think the criticism is of the method chosen or maybe the tone of the complaint. User X has not had any success with e-mail or telephone with a vendor. Is it appropriate to state that the service sucks? Yes, but... There's a frustration level, especially when a vendor does have a stellar rep, when a customer doesn't feel that the vendor is living up to the rep. So what to do? In that perfect world where vendors are our friends and fellow enthusiasts, the first question might be about the recent experiences of others. In the business world where we expect vendors to perform, the qualified critique is just as viable. Being a member doesn't make the choice any different, but the typically longer exposure to the community might sway the choice away from the critique path.

I whole heartedly agree with your comments Sean.

As well I find a great deal of the comments regarding the reasons to anti up for a membership really silly. It really is as if those people have not thought about it at all.

When JD ran the place the funds went to a fairly good cause shall we say. Now all that is happening is that we are helping to make an internet giant shall we say that much richer. IB makes a fortune off the advertising that happens on this board.

The ONLY reason I am a member is so that I can list the odd thing for sale on here.

And I strongly disagree with the 'protection' venders get on this site. There have been many people come and go in the past, Threshie, Devek, etc. all of them ended up leaving some hurty feelers as things were paid for and never received. Those companies got away with thousands. Then when someone has a bad experience about a vender, in my opinion they should be allowed to post about it. This is what keeps everyone in check. It is obvious that they should do everything to try to contact that said vender before. But when that vender does not properly fix the problem when their money has already been taken for a product, they should be encouraged to post their experience. This will keep the balance in check.

If I was in the other fellows shoes and had paid money for something and it had gone two months, I would post about it. I have had difficulties in the past with I-J and posted up. I tried to get in touch with them for a long time. It was ONLY after I posted on here that they would respond to me. I have also had difficulties with supposed kits from other venders which that vender offered up BS fixes and was unwilling to properly correct the problem. When I posted my experience, I was told that apparently I had a hidden agenda and that if I bashed them again I would be banned.
I think that people on this board need to understand that if they dont like someones post to instead of crapping in that post they need to walk away from it. Avoid posting, or supply a link to the section in the FAQ.

I have myself gone through the FAQ and it is IMO horrible, hard to find anything, and far too long.
then we get to the search function, and even I being fairly computer savvy have issues finding exactly what I want in it. I have better luck finding information on this board that I want if I search in Google than I do if I use the boards search engine.

I was about to purchase some parts from a "member" until the deal included I become a paying member first. That just rubbed me wrong..not for the $18. Then when i didn`t ...I became a flake in his recent post. I think that pretty much explains my perspective.
