Default Won auction on ebay, seller won't deliver...

I won an aution for a tail light for my '78.

The auction was ended in July and the seller told me on several occations that he was sending the item.

I even paid £25 (approx. $40) for transport from England to Norway.

After waiting for more than a month I made a formal complaint to ebay. Now they tell me that I will get a refund...

BUT: I don't want the money, I want the tail light.

Does ebay (UK) hold any responsibility? What about the seller? Will he be banned from ebay?

Finally: I need the right hand side tail light. So if anybody has this (my car is the euro model, dunno if the tail lights are different on the US model?) I'm interested.

Take your money...that is all they can do for you. Give him negative rating...you still have WON BID status on the item.

Just got another email from ebay.co.uk

The fact that the seller will not deliver as agreed has absolutely no concequence AT ALL for him.

Ebay (UK) will not ban him, they will not investigate further... The simply don't give a d***!!!

My suggestion to all: Stay away from eBay (UK). I hope eBay.com (US) has better customer service!!

I am still looking for right hand side tail light (well the alu. inside that is. But any complete light would be of interest. AND: I will pay a good price for this!).

Ebay US or UK it is not different, same company - same policies. Not sure why you are so aggrevated with Ebay though. They stepped up and refunded your money. No harm done to you by them.

P.S. While seller will not be banned right away, if a few more people will complain about not receiving their items, they will ban him/her. It takes more then one complain to close either seller's or buyer's account.

Cheers!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, I hope you get your money back.

For the tail light, try one of our site sponsors, I am sure one of them would be happy to help you out.

The refund is your best case scenario. Be happy you got that and keep on eye on for another one on Ebay or ??? I've had good experience using Paypal the two disputes I have had resulted in me getting my money back.

Thanks guys!

I did get the refund from PayPal, so I guess I should be happy about that.

Now it looks like it will work out: I've gotten some offers for a used light.

I wonder if this (crappy) seller is going to put the item up for sale on eBay (UK) again (and get away with it)...

+1. I use PayPal and a credit card. Two layers of protection, though I've never needed either of them.
