Images of the car the day I bought it compared to after I restored the exterior. I did not have this car repainted. Over the years I have developed a system to restore and maintain paint and the results can be quite shocking.
I am going to have this car repaint soon because I am such a perfectionist.

This looks very nice! You did an awesome job in cleaning it up!
It reminds me a bit of a red 85 928S from a local owner. He has 17" wheels, no side moldings, and the car is always glossy and shiny like it is on your picture. I LOVE that car!
Best of luck with your repaint project, if you decide to do it. I've been told to budget at least $2k for rubber and trim pieces when doing this.

I think a lot of us would be interested in learning your
method of restoring and maintaining old paintwork.
Would you consider sharing.
Your paintwork looks amazing now.

Beautiful job Michael!
If this is Guards Red there is no clearcoat and a lot of polishing and buffing plus wax can bring it back from oxidized or washed/faded.

Nice car, Michael. Very nice. Wheels make it look new.
Here's another
Chalky red in, abandoned behind the local Porsche dealer....then shiny red out after some clay and fine polish.
Gotta love single stage paint.
I'd wouldn't repaint until it was shined through to the primer.

In my case, forlorn, chalky 73,000 (verifiable) mile 32V 928, $2000.
2 days and $38.00 of wax products -- happy better half.
Moral of the story: Do not repaint single stage unless absolutely necessary.
