Default Fog light replacement question '84

I hate to ask questions that I'm sure have been answered but I've searched "Fog light bulb" and "fog light replace" both in this forum and the DIY section and not found anything useful.

My driver's side fog light is out and I went to remove the front lens this evening thinking it would be pretty straight forward, but after getting the lens off it appears that the bulb must be removed from the back side. I have inferred at least this much from some other posts and it seems that there is a plastic housing on the back side that must be removed as well with some delicate screws that are prone to breaking.

Is this all there is? I just want to make sure not to have any surprises. Does the H3 just unplug though the back if this rear cover is removed? Is there even a need to remove the front lens?

Strangely, neither the owners manual or Section 94 of the Factory Service Manuals that deal with exterior lighting explains how to replace the fog light.

I have replaced 3 of the 4 front lights not too long ago, and for the life of me, I cant remember how I did it. Pretty sure I just came in through the front. I dont think I played with bulbs though, as new ones come with them. Nothing in the owner's manual?

See page 78 in the '84 driver's manual (handbook).
Its the two screws next to the ones in the corners i.e. the ones three quarters up/down the sides.

Exactly, those 2 screws will allow the whole unit to out of the bumper.
On the back is a spring/wire retainer that needs to be spread outwards and flipped over.
Bulb is then easily removed.
Disconnect the wires first so that the bulb is protected in the housing.

Damn - I must have been really tired last night. Sure enough, instructions are in the owners manual. Page 87 though, not 78, FYI. Thanks.

Just an FYI....when you remove the trim piece you will see 2 philips head screws first....avoid those as the ones you really want are set back a bit behind those...those will allow you to remove the whole housing and allow access to the buld and holder on back....really easy....I put some anti seize on the screws when I was reinstalling as my screws were a little tough to back out...normally 5 mins to switch the bulbs out for new.....Also avoid the screws on the corner of the housing as those allow alignment...
