Starting a 1986 928S
I’m looking to buy a 1986 928S from a lady whose husband died 6 years ago and has been sitting in the garage. It hasn’t been started for the last 7 years.
I came over with a jump box and fresh fuel. The engine turns over but does not start. The alarm siren goes on constantly until I disconnect the battery cables. My thought is that the car will not start due to an immobilizer in the alarm. I did have the driver door, trunk hatch and the hood open. Could this be why? Or is there anything special that needs to be done to start it?

Yes, the immobilizer will allow the car to crank but not fire. If you can’t get it to shut off it can be bypassed in the wiring but depends how far you want to mess with the car before making a decision to buy.

Alarm not allowing car to start
This was my first experience with a 928. I did not know that there are multiple keys. Not sure if the wife knows where the other keys are. I’m stopping by on Saturday to try a few things that were suggested. Maybe she’ll find the other keys.

You may already have the long key, 50/50 chance that you do. I presume that you closed the doors and hatch and tried locking and unlocking the car with the key, right? If that doesn’t shut off the alarm then you will probably need to make a jump wire and remove the glovebox door and the box itself to access the alarm module. Good luck
