A few weeks ago I finished motor mounts and a few other items (lots of work) and took the 928 for a mountain drive with Greg and Mike. We had a great time and the car ran perfectly, just a wonderful day. Then a couple days later I blew a coolant line driving to work. Simple problem really, but it irritated me. I fixed that but after a test drive, heard a dreaded chirping from the water pump...now the front of the engine has to come apart again. Enough, I parked it in the garage and went on vacation, refusing to think about it.

Fast forward to last night and after a long day at work, I was trying to get a few things done in the home office, phone was ringing, kids going nuts, dog barking, and my blood pressure was about to pop. I went down into the garage looking for something and just looked at the 928 sitting there quietly..."I knew you'd be back." I opened the door, got in and closed the door, to be enclosed in that insulated chamber that 928 owners know so well. Quiet, absolute quiet. I just sat there for about 10 minutes getting to know my car again.

Yep, work begins in earnest this week and we'll be back on the road shortly.

I do the exact same thing when I'm feeling stressed and overwhelmed. When I can actually get mine in the garage I'll sit in it, shut the door and just sit. Thinking about the past drives and future ones. Admire the build quality etc.

Soothes the soul.
