Can find the official name or a code. Its the 2006 Gemballa GTR car. Garrett wants THIS color and I need to get it mixed and painted ASAP. Any help or suggestions as to where to find this or one REAL DARN CLOSE?

Thanks

At a first glance, I thought this was a RUF. Then I saw the Gemballa details... This looks somewhat Guards Red to me.

Are you going non-metallic, non-pearl? Clearcoat?

They list it as an orange..also saw where it was called a BLOOD ORANGE. If it looks like guards red then your monitor color is off a little I think. It is a REDDISH Orange though.

OK.

It might be easiest for you guys to visit car websites and see, if any mfg has a similar color listed for one of their cars. Or walk some dealer lots. Then you can just take that formula.

Of course, any painter can custom mix a color for you - which he'd probably have to, if it's not available from a mainstream brand. But then you might have some risk when you need to repaint something down the road.

Here is Guards Red on the right.....

Dean, when you figure it out, write it down.

Unless your son objects ( and that's cool if he does), I have one up here in the mid-atlantic that's begging for that color sometime during 2011.

Gonna need seats redone, too.

The more I look at this color the more I think WOW! My S4 would look GREAT in this...but then this color would have to change so Thats out the window. :)

This is REALLY a nice color. I am impressed with his ability to "see" better than I.

I'm sure he would feel flattered.

Dean,

Maybe this link will be helpful:

http://www.type-14.com/paint.htm

Code L21E = Blood Orange

It looks like a match to me.

Very nice color... Quite fetching!

Red- Good choice!

Maybe no need for a custom mix-
Go to your paint supplier and ask to see the tinting colors
( the ones they mix with) . Some of the Reds are stunning.
If you find something you like, just use it . Also, there would be a better
chance of it matching later if needed as the tints are made
at the factory by the paint maker - no in the field mixing involved.
PPG had a tinting red that the street rod guys used- bright!
You car will be outstanding when done- good job.

Dean_Fuller 07-07-2010 12:18 AM

"Dear Dean,

I THINK this color would look best in a NON Metallic...but I will use clear as well.
Thoughts? A pearl would be nice too but that might be a little much for my first paint job....ever.
