1. I used the lip on the balancer - scary - but was very very careful and painfully slow at pulling it off.
2. The GTS does not seem to have the brown plastic clip my 86.5 had.

Found the A/C connector after all.
Timing belt is off - the PS side pulley moved a couple inches clockwise. Normal, I hope.

its normal if you have the crank at 45deg. this position prevents the cams from pushing the valves into the piston tops

Never had any trouble with it on my 16V.
