It is not just a detector.

I had the V1, it drove me nuts with it's incessant false alarms.
It does not bother some folks, drove me nuts.

That being said, the V1 is a really good detector for what it is, the best in the 400$ price range, but once you get into the GPS stuff it is outmoded, again, IMHO.

The 9500CI is a remote mounted, GPS based, redlight camera equiped, that has intergrated front and rear laser jammers.

Unless a cop really looks my car over he is not going to know it has a detector or a jammer, the display looks like a regular voltage gauge.

One of my cop buddies told me he was going to give me a ticket if he caught me speeding and i had a RD hanging from the windshield, he was kidding of course.

We can ask our resident LEO his thoughts on this, but my guess is if they see a RD you are getting a ticket.

It is a pretty slick bit of kit IMHO.

With all the 9500CI's and Ix's out there they have a good idea where all the false alarms are, it is strangely quite, when it goes off almost every time there is a LEO around.

They (Bellscort) are posed to take over the market when the patent runs out on the arrows next year that the V1 has.

My guess is that it will just be a weekly update away for the 9500CI because it allready has arrows to point to where the redlight cameras are.

The current hot kit for laser jammers are the four head "laser Interceptor", but it is pricey.

Okay update for those of us in the republic of Ka.....

1: You MUST run two plates, both front and rear..& NO up in the window does NOT count...there are specific distances the plate must be from the ground-bumper-etc and up there is TOO high..however the violation for no plate is a "fix it ticket" which typically only costs $10 after getting it signed off by your local LEO (good to know one)
2: Jammers are ILLEGAL...nice try though lucky for us we are only eight states that have made them illegal.....the downside is CHP KNOWS this...my friends in CHP already know the error codes that come up when someone is jamming them...& they HUNT for the car that did it....it really pisses them off....and thats the LAST thing you want....

one last interesting tidbit I got from my CHP friend....they now have computers that can scan and run the license plate of EVERY car within visual distance of the CHP cruiser....expired...BUSTED....stolen..SERIOUSLY busted.....he said it works up to 5 lanes wide!!! runs every plate and only alerts the CHP officer if someone illegal is found!

How can they pick which one to go after?
They have to be busy.

I would think that unless you are the only car on the road and some error is coming up, they are going to continue on as they were, take Andrews example of switching off and giving them an accurate reading.

Although if you were my friend I would tell you how pissed I am when someone is jamming my Radar, in real life they are just going to continue to clock people. It isn't all that often there is a cop sitting there with LIDAR too long, they are gonna clock the guy a few cars away and get him for speeding.

Id rather a pissed of cop with nothing to go on, than a $250 ticket...

Most laser guns wont lock on to a good jammer, they usually do not show error codes.

my cop buddy tried to lock onto mine and he said even with him knowing I had a jammer at first he thought he was not getting a good line on it.

On the lighter side, he pointed the gun at my jammer from about four feet away and it did not work for a few hours.

i have no idea if it was a gun screw up or not, but he says it has not had a issue since.

Default group buy

There's plenty of stuff on the net about the laser jammers (guysoflidar).. Apparently they do work.

I've seen some car forums get up a group for a deeply discounted group purchase. I'm not sure I'm in, but I'd be curious as to how low they'd go.

Unfortunately, my last ticket was instant Ka. In an old 4-banger Accord! I was quite impressed at how fast that cop got me.

I think he saw the V1, but he didn't say anything. Rather, it was all business. 82 in a 55 doesn't leave much room for forgiveness...

Matt, do you know who had the black S4 with the Cobb plates on it at SITM?

And yes, IO KA is as bad as it gets.

You have to know some serious folks to be able to counter that and if you get caught it wont be good.

Just imagine if noone stopped for them,,,,,

Or that noone paid their tickets,,,,,,

A world where the people were not so compliant. It would crumble pretty damn quick.

Lidar is beatable. You may need to go to court to do so, but it is. Do not be intimidated.

Got a buddie who in high school thought that was the way to go, got away with it six times, the seventh time he got a wood shampoo.

Looking back, I guess they had a good reason to almost beat him to death.
Stupid kids I guess, BTDT, never again.
