Jerry,
Great product - paypal'd you already... I will be planning to remove my GTS foam from the crappy stock corrugated plastic cover and glue it on the bottom of this... anyone done this already? any tips? glue recommendations?
I'm sure it will work fine one way or another.

Hi Alan:
Thanks for your purchase. I have your cover packaged and will put it in the Priority Mail tomorrow.
It is looking like I am going to have to have a GTS one of these days. I didn't realize the GTS had the foam on the spare tire cover as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, but that does not surprise me. If I knew what the foam actually was I suppose I could offer that as an option and provide it already installed. Does anyone have a used broken GTS cover they would donate or even sell me so I could see for myself what kind of foam it has and what shape?
For you, Alan, I think I would suggest some spray on contact cement to put the foam on the new cover. I would take mine to the trim shop and have them sprayed, but you can get a spraycan of trim adhesive at the hardware store and do it at home. I take things to the trim shop because the owner is my neighbor and friend. When I go there they call me the "Foreman!"
Thanks again, and good luck. Post a picture if you can when you get yours glued together.
Jerry

Jerry - the GTS foam is profiled/molded to fit - e.g. over the shock mount, wheel, etc its quite thick in places maybe 1.5" max and probably 1/2" min - would be hard to replicate. Well worth saving for me.

Thanks Alan. I hate when that happens. Now my brain is all a-twitter wondering what it actually looks like and trying to overcome this "challenge."
I can envision some kind of light foam that will take on its own shape when put into service and then hold that shape for a long time. Actually some of the closed cell foam I have use for other things has a very poor memory, and something like that that is not too dense might be just right. I'll keep thinking about this. Jerry

Although I haven't had any interest expressed in my previous suggestion of a WHITE Spare Tire Cover, when I went to the Plastic Supply place I couldn't resist buying the whole sheet of pure white ABX plastic that I knew he had in stock. After I had it cut to the sizes I need to form these covers I then learned that he too was rather fond of it. I found out that it is significantly more expensive that the Black.
Anyway, I brought it home and formed a couple covers in the forming jig and here is a picture of one of them. The price is a little bit more for the white=$70. Let me know if there is any interest. Again, you can paypal to my email address

By the way, I shipped one to Australia and the cost there for S&H is $45.

Jerry,
It looks great! What a great product. We are so fortunate to have so many creative people here on this list building supplies for less money and in superior quality than the originals found on our 928's! AWESOME.
I'll try and take a pic of the GTS covers foam next time I have the back of my car open...I'll just pull it out and snap a pic. The foam is really impressive actually and I think it would indeed be hard to replicate.

Jerry,
I agree with James. It truly is beautiful in white, and the appearance of both colors looks great. Well done, but sorry, the two OE's I currently have a in great condition. (Maybe I should buy one to put in inventory while they are available!! - ha).
Cheers,
Gary Knox

Nicely done!!! Love it w/ the GTS foam. Both my GTS covers are still good for now, thankfully so I don't need to do this for them, but so glad to see it can happen easily enough!

Thanks Alan for the pictures and the plug. If I can find the right kind of closed cell foam that is not too dense I might be able to replicate this foam so it would work just as well as the pictured foam even though it might not look quite the same. I'll keep a watch out for the kind of rfoam I have in mind. Thanks again. Jerry

Jerry, These are great products you are offering. I never thanked you for fixing my rear wiper. Now that my hatch closes properly, it works like a charm.
Now, please get to work on some chin spoilers for the early cars. I installed a new one last night, so I should be ready for one in a few weeks.

Thanks Bob. I love it!!! Actually I have that project in mind also, but first I will be making the wheel well liners. I think I am going to make the S4 and later front spoilers in three parts both so they will be easier to form and because then they will be replacable in sections. At least that is my very preliminary plan. Drive carefully and maybe by the time you destroy your new one I will be ready. Jerry

And then, I reread your post and saw that you mentioned the "early spoiler." The one for the 928's before the S4 hasn't been in my mental project list, and I don't have one to study to see how feasible it might be to build. If I can come across one sometime, if that is what might be needed, I'll give that some consideration. Jerry
