Outstanding! I really like the approach of reworking the original design. Porsche engineers didn't score 100% on everything on the 928, but they were very thorough nonetheless in choosing their solutions. Too me, you are a long way towards accentuating the positive and eliminating the negative (some of you will know how to sing along ) in their approach to the water pump part of the cooling system. This is one I'll put on my own car.

Very interesting!

R&D is expensive and painstaking to do to a point that general availability is feasible, nice work Ed

Seems like the concept is something that would benefit most cars with belt-driven pumps - might be worth applying for a patent on the design principles of the coupling.

The other nice thing about the package is that if you so desire you can use it on a brand new pump. Ed

Thank you for the kind words. This is the kind of work I like to do and if it helps people well that's just a bonus!

I'm assuming that installation of these parts will require one to press off the existing pulley/impeller first?

No. You buy whatever type of pump you want and it is already installed for you.All you get to do is install it in your car like any other pump and then if you like, remove the cover whenever you like to inspect the coupler or bearings then re-install cover. Ed

What a great idea!

I hope you go about making these in a serious way. If I felt reasonably comfortable with the quality of the parts and workmanship I would pay more and slap one right on my engine.

Nice work !

This design would have saved this 16 Valve 86.5 Euro.
Water pump seized, and took out 5 cylinders - zero compression, we don't know yet how many valves were bent.

So when you figure what a valve job is going to cost to get repaired even on a 16 valve… that makes this a no brainier.

Any idea on a ball park water pump cost?

thanks,

DaveK9

I have been to your website and I know where your coming from.If the procedures in manufacture and tolerances are not held correctly,it will not work.

I don't have the credentials of Ed, Tass or Mike, but I saw the pump and the idea is exactly what is needed. Not only does the pump essentially eliminate the chance of a timing belt failure leading to bent valves, it also reduces the load on the impeller bearing, so the lifetime of the water pump is greatly increased.

While it was my first meeting with Ed, I would say he is the real deal, a 928 enthusiast who thought this was a problem worth solving. I would think anyone with an interference motor would want one of these in their 928. I know I do

Nice job Ed

Nice work!
It looks like a very interesting product.
Just removed my hold pump today and have a brand new Lazo on the shelf (thanks Roger).
Hum, what I do now???
