LOL ... I had somewhat similar experience years ago when I went to drive an 88 S4 at a local lot.

Guy says "A/C's fine but needs topping off". It's about 100 degrees and the car's sitting there all closed up in the summer sun. Now who in the hell do they think's going to buy that car?

I am guessing that you went to Manasquan to look at the 88.

If I am right, I would be curious to get your impression on that car. I think I recall the car being in the low/mid twenties back in December. I was interested, but the price seemed high at the time.

About a year and 1/2 ago I drove an hr up RT 19(stop & go) with the wife and kids. They had a 83 w/ 80k. they also would finance w/ so much down. I asked them if it drove, etc, etc. They said the car was in AWESOME condition! Got there and the car wouldn't start, the shifter fell apart in my hands, lights wouldn't pop up, a real mess. The salesmen actually kept trying to get me to put money down and buy it to the point I almost told him to shut the f... up!

Unreal! Wouldn't have been so bad but with little ones it was not fun!

the 88 was very clean.no hits or paintwork and engine looked pretty clean.that s as far as i got.it did have a goofy cell phone mounted to the console door which i didn't like.the 86 was really clean as well.

In the long run cars from Dealers always seem to suck. If they know the 928, they want top dollar, and if they don't know it they still want top dollar and don't even know what that is.

With a slimey dealer, best thing is just to leave as fast as possible. Maybe make them show you the carfax just for fun.

Down to $18.9K or best offer. With it not starting makes you scratch your head about how they care for the cars. At least you'd think they'd charge or at least start them once in a while...
