Count me in on this also.

The car will need to come to Roger's shop, I need at least one day notice, and while I can do the bulk of the work, I will need some help for a few 2 man parts. This is offered for anyone that bought MM from Roger and are now facing a collapsed unit from new. If you want to proactively R&R a mount that is not collapsed, we can work something out.

PM me if interested.

Good idea on the Ford supply possibilty, however if my memory serves me correctly both Corteco and Anchor are the suppliers to Ford. We may end up getting the same thing.

I have found some MM's for Volvo that might work. They are hydraulic but if they do not leak they could be an option.

I might start drinking again this weekend 8>(

Can't you buy new Ford mounts from Ford and avoid the entire "aftermarket" problem?
Not the only hold out, at least on a customers car.

Roger,

This will blow over and your excellent reputation for service, honesty and value will remain...

I did some Googling today and ran across some Energy Suspension Poly mounts that might work, but lots of folks on other forums said that Poly mounts transfer more vibrations than rubber, so maybe not a good option.

Can anyone verify that the bottom of my oil pan should be flush with the crossmember? My pan is about a 1/4" lower, with about 3/8" between the top of the crossmember and the pan. I installed the mounts WITH the washers.

If anyone in the Houston area needs to do a swap out, let me know, maybe we get together and to a few at once.

Greg,
That is kind of you as always.
I ordered some already to try out.

Roger --

Good crisis management, by the way. Treat the customers well when things fall apart, and they will remember that.

One of our competitors (in a business unrelated to cars in any way) just lost literally tens of millions of business because they covered up a code bug f-u-c-k u-p. Happy to see that you're not that guy.

The mods should probably sticky this thread to the top for a while.

Amen, no use worrying about things you can not do any about.

At least it bothers you, I have dealt with so many parts people over the years that really do not care if a part fails.
The attitude is, "Sorry, here is a new one, just like the last one"

I know for a fact that when you see a problem with a part, like the cam chains we talked about last year, you stop selling them and just eat the parts you have and refuse to sell them.

Here is a example of a parts house not caring about what they sell.

I had a transmission out of a Ford Ranger seven times due to bad new parts from NAPA, after the third time i put the old parts back in and drove it to the store because they said I was installing them incorrectly.

Strange thing is, when I just replaced the new parts from NAPA with new parts from Ford it worked with out a problem.
They lost my account after they said "You must be installing them wrong, lots of people have problems bleeding them", my thoughts were "No ****, a lot of those folks bring them to me after they could not get them bleed, even the shop you wanted me to call for help".

After they knew I was no longer going to be buying parts from them, they tried to make me pay for the parts because they had been installed.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you getting bad parts is like GB said, it is beyond your control so there is no reason for you to be beating yourself up over it.

It sucks, but getting bad parts is just a fact of life when you are dealing with cars, even OE parts can and have been bad, seen it to many times to think that new OE parts can not be bad right out to the box.

Not a person here blames you for this, if anything, every one thinks better of you for the way you are handling it, I do.

Hell you even have customers willing to help other customers change the parts.

I have never heard of such a out pouring of support for a vendor who had a parts problem.

So brighten up, go drink some of that wine you drink and let this trouble your mind no more.

We've installed one set of new stuff that I hope will work, looks promising. I'm in the middle of doing a 2nd car with the same ones and then we should be good to go. I want to have a couple on the road first.

I've bench tested the pair I got early this year and putting almost my entire weight on it they didn't collapse. Does this mean I'm in the clear? They are in the car now but the crossmember is not on yet (changing the pan gasket).

As Sean has said we have two sets - one in a car that drives like a dream - the other he is fitting now.
Three more sets have been sent to customers willing to fit them as well so feedback will build up.

These are Volvo mounts and pretty sturdy, they feel and look better than the Ford mounts.
The nipple that engages the location hole in the large washer is the correct size and fits the washer perfectly. The mounts are Hydraulic which is my only reservation. I have spoken to a number of large Volvo dealerships about issues with collapsing mounts and non have been reported. Likewise the wholesalers have close to nil returns for warranty.
The mount is also about 3mm taller than the Ford mount and again better emulates the original.

It will take me a little while to become comfortable with them and start selling mounts again.
Price will be similar as well which also helps.
I will be cutting one in half to understand the internal structure as well.

unless you drill a hole in the bottom you will not be able to tell.
