Don: Getting the A/c comp back in place is the hard part. Alignment is critical for the threaded bolt. It's heavy and it just would not go to the sweet spot. YMMV. Car was on a lift and two of us still had hard time.

Got the car up in the air and my oil pan is about a 1/4" below my crossmember. The mounts look pretty squashed, but can't tell for sure if they are collapsed or not. I'll try to got some pictures of the mounts.

They are collapsed.

I had a convo with Roger today regarding my failure.

He will most likely update this evening, but I would hold off any installs until heard otherwise.

Further research is showing that a large number of MM's are bad and the manufacturer does not give a "rats".
The attached picture shows that the MM is hollow and in no way could support the weight of an engine for any specific period of time. We had thought that these were hydraulic MM's without water but after seeing the attached that is not the case. Compare it to the way it should be.
It goes without saying that we have stopped selling MM's until a reliable resolution can be found.

A foolproof way of testing the MM to see if it is good or not is to drill a small hole in the bottom. If you feel a cavity that is more than a 1/4" deep then they are bad.

I have been selling MM's for over 5 years and never had anything like this happen.
We are gutted.

Thanks for posting this up Rog.
Don't throw out the bad ones like that.

I am considering filling the 5 I have with poly eurathane. Will be slightly stiffer but still good and will last forever.

Translation for the Yanks:
"to be gutted"
definition: to be really upset about something
This really is a terrible thing. I feel for everyone that went through the trouble of installing these. I also feel terrible for Roger. I know that this has to be a horrible feeling for you. For what it's worth, I am sure that everyone knows it.

Roger,

Our condolences on this problem and it's great you are standing up to the challenge on making it right for your customers.

Not always easy to do...

According to the distributor the manufaturer supplies both Anchor and Corteco.
What a "crap" fest.

Make my day and tell me that it's a Chinese manufacturer.

Roger, can you opine (privately of course) based upon your records of order/ship date, the general probability of any specific MM order being filled with the unsolid mounts?

The picture of the MM with no core is a gold colored one so I know that is from the last batch ordered last year - at least October/November vintage.
Manufacture is China or India or USA - do not know exactly which at this point.
The latest - some of which are OK have "made in India" on them.
One of the facilities is DEA.

Roger,

Could the mounts that I installed from you have anything to do with my dim instrument lighting, alarm system sounding sporadically when armed, rear hatch latch not responding to the electric signal or needing a newer chin spoiler? I think that your defective motor mounts may also be responsible for an increase in gas consumption when I accelerate and may have caused a PA state trooper to issue me a citation for going 106 in a 55 zone on a long, straight and empty (except for him hiding to the side) stretch of highway.

All the best in minimizing any headaches,

Allen
