+1

Though the 930 looks great, I am partial to mine ;-)

(it is actually black, the flash messed up the true color)

Wow, so much passion about wheels… that’s great!

I wasn’t saying the 930 wheel isn’t a good looking wheel or didn’t have great feel. The point I was trying to make is that IMHO the hub to pod junction doesn’t blend.

The stalk that protrudes from the pod is rectangular and the stock wheel is thicker and rectangular so it ‘blends’. On the 930 application you have a rectangle, then a few inches of circular tube, and then basically a triangle shaped horn.

If your opinion is a triangle on top of a circle on top of a rectangle blends, that’s cool. As someone recently stated… Vive la différence!

Oh BTW, I happen to like the flag mirrors too… so maybe it’s just a rectangle fetish of mine. LOL

Kinda like how rounded front wheel wells work well with squared rear ones.

Kurt, You just just lost 7 positions in my "928 Owners Ranking Almanac" with that statement. Pitty really, becasue you had just climbed into the top 10 with your recent SCer acquisition and beer fridge pic. Too bad, so sad.

Is there a way to adapt a late model ( airbag ) wheel to the early cars ( 1978 )? The splines are smaller on the newer wheel than on the old one. The ceneter hub does not appear to be able to be removed. Is there an adapter? Has anyone done this?

Gary Knox did this, kinda. He adapted a 997 wheel to his GTS. Came out great and kept the airbag functionallity. I remember he mentioned doing something to adapt the splines, but don't recall exactly what.

The Aero mirrors are nicer but you can see a heck of a lot more in the flag ones.

I had wanted to switch out the original wheel and looked at both the 930 and Momo "Runner" ( Club 3) and decided on the Momo. I think it is not quite as "fat" as the 930, but does feel nice and looks pretty good

New setup:
o 930S Style Steering Wheel: $344
o Hub Kit, for 930S Style Formel Steering Wheel, 928 (1978-95): $128.5
o Porsche Crest with Gold Finish for 930S Style Steering Wheel; $78.75

Complete kit for aftermarket 930/935 is $551.25 plus ~$15 in shipping...

For a used setup, I have paid between $300-350 ($325 total on the one in my Cab right now- see pic below).

As for a real $930/935 wheel used or NOS... Varies. based on condition (stipped base requiring rebuild - less than $100). I have seen a NOS in plastic for ~$1000... did not sell as far as I know.

I am looking for a kit right now for one of my 89s. If you are selling one, PM me. if you are looking to purchase what I said above new, go to Pelican Parts. There is a 2 week delivery time to get the wheel into stock....

Not sure about the air bag wheels but it is a direct bolt on to all other 928s no adapter required.

The 928 Sport Steering wheel is a direct bolt on for the 928. We sell a lot of the black ones but some of the colors are hard to get.
Black is $533.00.
