I do have a collection of broken stuff. Just reminds me of how many $$ I've spent

I'm ok with breaking one of theses every three years if it keeps the trans and torque tube in tack. This shaft can be changed out at the track. I just need to but a spare.

the engine braking is not anywhere near as powerful as the engine. Off throttle forces wont be it, it will be cluch dumps and mismatched engine revs.

as I mentioned, it could be shifts , both down and up, where how the clutch is released, with its much more enhanced qualities due to being a race clutch, transfers more torque to that shaft.

I think, now more than ever, careful matching of the engine RPMs on downshifts is a requirement.

Lets see some video!!!

So, are you going to make it this week? Did you get the temp replacement shock?

by the way, are all the short shafts the same from 79 to 84 range?? I think I have one from the 79 I built up.

Also, would it be from the winding up or from a combination of winding up and lifting off the throttle (when presumably the trans would be driving the engine or 'engine braking')?

That is amazing. You need to keep all of these 'race tested' parts and make a display out of them.

I wonder if an i-shaft could be designed with the equivalent of a shear pin to protect the drive shaft. Maybe something you could replace by just dropping the bell housing at the track...

Made the race weekend. I installed a set of QA1 single adjustable shocks. No time to even corner balance. Just did a rough ride height. I know it wasn't the same since the car door hit the trailer fender when I opened it. Usually clears it by an 1/8".
No one showed up in GT-2, but had a good two days running. Did make it into a 57 in qualifying, which is my all time best at Lime Rock.
Think I can eventually make it to 56 with some slicks
Spent Friday night until midnight repairing my friends GT3 Cup car that was hit. He race the next day and took first. He was running a 55.2!!! Smoking fast. Those cars are amazing.
