Default Need some Sunroof help

Cant close the sunroof. When i hit the switch, the motor slightly moves then stops. Roof doesnt move at all.
Now i do know about the manual method. There is a crew. When i turn the screw it does seem to open or close, however i have to use vice grips on the screwdriver. Doesnt that screw come out and show a hex bolt? screw head is starting to strip. Going to rain today so i have to get this closed.

Matt,
The tracks and cables are probably really dirty and gummed up. Try some spray carb cleaner (protect your interior from this spray) and clean as well as you can everything you can see. Hit the button and see if you "help" the motor and transmission close the roof for now. When it gets to be a dry day again, you can pull the motor, transmission and roof and cables and get them really really clean, and lubricate lightly. Check also that the screw on the transmission is too tight. Hope this helps.

Well could be. I just found a receipt from 2000 where the mechanic stated the customer had an issue. Looks like he cleaned, greesed and closed the sunroof then made a coment saying the motor will need to be changed out.
As far as the screw it's tight. If I try to loosen it just opens the roof. The head is getting bad and won't hold my screw driver.

Your sunroof raises at the rear? Like a 944?

I think he's saying that the rear of the roof won't come up into the full closed position.

Correct. It won't seat. Only on one side. I wedged a pocket knife up there to raise it on that side and seal it. The motor seemed to spin fine when I disconnected the tranny from it. When it is connected it can't turn it at all.
