Default 997 wheels in a 928?

I'm noticing on Ebay that a lot of the 997 wheels have decent offsets for a 928:

Linky

I'm thinking about getting a similar set for my 85, if I can find any in 18". Anyone try these? Are 19s tolerable in a 928?

Those are the "crab claws" and look good ona 928. Only problem with pre-86.5 cars is 19" wheels make your brakes look tiny. Even under the 18" 997's I have my S brakes look like toys on the 81.

This is 100% superficial since they still stop good....

Here is my 79 with 18" 997 wheels:

Even the S4 brakes look kinda small

Some have issues with the ride quality with 18-19" wheels. I didn't notice any change with my cars.

19's are more than tolerable on 928's IMHO... I've been running them for a couple of years with absolutely no issues.

I think the 18" and 19" 5 spoke Porsche 997/987 wheels look great on 928's. You can find some really good deals on new car take offs if you look for them.

I think I will end up getting a set just like Hacker's. I think these wheels look great and have good offsets for the 928. I'm not sure I want to go to the 19s as I don't want to give up that much sidewall hieght and complience.

Some quick questions for Erik.

What is your ride height set at. If the suspension hasn't settled and it looks that low, you must be running that around what? 135mm?

Would 245s fit on the front? I would really like to be able to put that much rubber up front.

There are also new wheel choices for our 928's coming from the Cayman & Boxster models. Although they are probably replicas/knock-offs, you might want to check out Wheel Enhancement (no affiliation). I've been looking recently to see what's out there. I kinda like the 2010 987 Boxster S II and the Cayman S II wheels both in 18's.

How about these? 8x18 ET 57 and 10x18 ET58 with good styling for just a bit over $500 delivered. I'm wondering about the quality, but seems like a killer deal. Anyone have any experience with this brand/distributer?

I have 245s on the back currently, if I can move those up front, I would only need to add a set of rear rubber.

I'm not good with photoshop but these are the wheels I'm talking about. Don't have any other info on them (offset unknown) except that they come in 18x8 and 18x9 and the usual tires they put on them are 235/40ZR18 (you could go with 225 to be on the safe side) and 265/40ZR18 respectively.

But usually 18" Cayman and Boxster wheels do fit with our S-bodies with no problems. Though keep in mind you are limited with wider rear wheels with these 18x9 compared to the 997 Carrera III/Classic wheels of 18x10. So basically, you would be the guinea pig to try these 2010 wheels to see how they would look, since I don't think anyone on here has them yet.

I really like the Cayman S stock wheel (18") that has the carrera GT look to them. wheelnut. I'd also go for the Bear Claws as referred to above - had those on my last car and really like the look of em.

PS - BlackShark is running these on his unit - very nice, clean, updated, modern. i'll have a set of these on my 83s (rauchquartzmetallic) with them refinished to match that dull gold finish as the OEM manhole covers. that would rock! : BlackShark - if you're out there, would love to see some more detailed pics of your car - very nice combo / execution / etc.

OP, my 2005 Boxster project car (987 chassis) came new with the optional 18" Boxster S wheels. I got different wheels and will be selling these if you have interest. They are in minty shape and have Hankook tires with mebbe 6k miles on them.

Ok, second question: Will 11s fit w/out rolling? I know that is a pretty fat wheel for an S.

I have no idea on the ride height, that's how it was when I bought it (I'm friends with a few of the previous owners, this car has a colorful local history).
IIRC it's a Koni with cut S4 spring combo of sorts. I know, kinda sad I don't know the setup that well. I just drive that one
I have to be careful entering steep driveways not to have my front wheels turned too sharp. I should install some steering limiters.

The car came with four custom widened phone dials (Todd cut apart eight wheels to make four).

I'm going to try and run 245's up front with these wheels on the 81.

I purchased some 10x18 et65 wheels for the track car and I plan to squeeze 265's on all four corners.
