repair TPS, new porken chips, now no start!!
 

I have been the past week working in the car,, I have repair the TPS ( clean oil in the inside, put new bearings with seals, new cable for the TPS ( Thanks Roger). Put the new S3 Porken chips, 87 regulator, new spark plugs, went to start the car today, it cranks but no start, where to look, I cant wait to go for a test drive. One thing I remember was that before I put the car in the garage, I went to start the car and it wont crank at all, I went to the starter relay, jumped and it start fine, now it crank using the key but no start, I already check the pump, jumped the relay, i have gas. Thanks in advance for any input on this.

Try disconnecting the EZF and LH plugs, and reinserting them. Make sure they 'click' when they go in.

Are you sure you have put the chips in correctly ?

A simple oversight that could happen to anyone. :icon107: I imagine it would cause exactly what you're seeing and require you to get a new set of chips from Ken because applying power to the chips in the wrong orientation will wipe them clean... Or so I have read.:thumbsup:

That'd be my guess. The TPS won't affect whether or not it will fire, it could affect the timing. You also did the regulator. Is the vacuum line hooked up? I'm not sure if this could cause what you're seeing, I just thought I'd ask.

I check very well the orientation before put the chips with the originals, I check them again and they were correct.

What's the condition of your electrical system, ie, how long since you went through it and polished stuff?
Relay issue is a symptom of something going on.

In particlular, the set of 5 engine grounds? CE Panel grounds? Panel itself?

I am thinking that way, because when I put the car in the garage, that days was raining a lot, and before I do the work on the car, I was going to start the car, but it have no crank, I jump the starter and start right away, now when I was going to start the car, it work with the key but no start, I will start to clean everything, and let you know what hapen.

The 2 ground wires beneath the air filter, which you needed to disturb when operating on the intake, are real important.

Can you please tell me more about these 2 wires, exact location?? Thanks in advance

Right.

The S-3 harness has ground points VIII and IX located on either end of a thin metal bracket.
The bracket spans across the valley of the motor, all the way back near the front edge of the bell housing.
Its down low and deep, a little hard to reach and see.

They need to be in good condition and grounded to the car.

...And I think the other one is where the socket is. But I'm not 100% sure. If not, it is close. Thanks D'wayne again!

I think Dwaynes S4 is a little different the S3 cars. But its down in that general area. Could have been disturbed during an intake refurb.

(you really need to know intimately where all these ground points and +side junctions are).

Do you have the correct "87 regulator"?
I dont recall who but same problem, no start, had incorrect regulator.
Try putting back original regultor and chips, see if problem persists.
