Default YELLOW 1980 EURO S ON EBAY

If someone who knew what they were doing bought this -http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130376749525&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEW AX%3AIT - what would be a fair initial price and expected expenditures to get it in average condition. The yellow would be hard to live with IMO. Gunar

I'm thinking this car is like a cell phone. The phone is usually free or very cheap because that is just the price of admission. You eventually pay so much money to make it work that the initial layout barely factors into the cost.
Better to spend the money up front on a better example I think.

That car has been for sale FOREVER!!! Total POS! Repaint with a nice brush I think as well as needing a new interior and as I recall it does not run either! I think that car might need $20k to make it a $5k car!!! Not even $10k!

If you're game for a project, and are willing to paint it yourself as well as do mechanical work, I'd say it could be a decent driver for $6k worth of parts, paint and interior bits (used ebay seats/dash, fuel lines, intake reseal, rubber bits etc.).

Of course, at the end of it you'll have a car that's maybe worth $3k

If you just want a driver, hunt for a car thats in much better shape.

Found: Euro OB
First I find that a 928 shop is opening practically within walking distance of my house, now this. I'm out riding my bike about 1/2 mile from my house. The guy who lives at that house, he's always had a jag xjs parked in front, and another car behind that, under a cover. Today I ride by, and he's got the cover off, and lo and behold, a 1980 5sp white Euro OB("Everything is in German")! So, being curious, but not *really* interested, I ask if it is for sale. It turns out the car is for sale, and it does run(but hasn't been started in a year), and he'd be willing to sell it to me for $1k--which is tempting, because, worst case, I could turn it around as a parts car(while keeping the euro headlights for myself, hehe)

The car was left covered, with deleterious affects on the paint, and some rust spots around the hatch and window area. I'm not sure if that is the galvanization or actual rust, though. I'll post pics soon.

Thoughts?

edit: Ok, I added the photos. Sorry for some of the quality--bright day, and the neighbor's house washed out some of the interior shots.

I don't see much difference in these 2 to say buy one and stay away from the other. Can you enlighten me. Gunar

I am having a little trouble learning post procedure but my comment is at the very bottom of the above post. It's asking someone to explain what makes the white Euro in the other new post more desirable than this yellow one. other post https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...d-euro-ob.html

Yellow one has been advertised before multiple times whereby enough of its history and ownership pedigree were revealed to make it repulsive to me, I recall. I spotted it on CL a while back. I think it was at a multi-thousand price as well.

White one looks to be more complete.
