A new tuba duo will play its maiden concert sometime in May.

John Kuhn's design, by the way, allows one to replace the burnt clutch without removing the exhaust.

I've got a new concert venue for the tuba duo on Wednesday. Three bays, so there should be some elbow room as well, as long as the daily drivers stay on the driveway.













It came attached to a house, so the wifey's not complaining...

Thanks guys. I'll try to figure out how to get realistic audio of the car after it's all done. ETA four weeks.

[EDIT: It's been two months since I said four weeks. Right now, the expectation is 6/17 for firing it up the first time.]

JHowell37's suggestion about the floor is excellent. What I'd really like is very light gray epoxy coating on it. I am debating if this is something that I'll attempt DIY or whether to start to look for a professional.

Painting the floor with the epoxy is easy to do. From the pics, the floor looks pretty clean even though it's a few years old. I guess the previous owner didn't keep their car inside. If there are no grease stains, just sweep it real good, maybe rinse with a garden hose, let it dry completely, and roll the stuff on.

You could probably roll it on in about an hour.

Judging by the fumes that my curing epoxy floor gave off for more than a week, I'd save my brain cells and pay someone to do that job, especially for a gorgeous 3-holer space like that. The GarageJournal guys seem to think that if you want it done properly, there's a bunch of surface prep to do if the surface isn't brand-new virginal, either muriatic acid etching, or shot blasting, or both. Agreed, acid etching is a must to make sure the cement is properly prepped. There are also many types of epoxy available with different solids levels. Supposedly the higher the percentage of solids the better the epoxy. I'm going to paint mine next spring, maybe we can help each other and also share garage space while the garage is drying?

The iteration zero version that will be ready in four weeks will basically be all John Kuhn's work. All I did was the fuel system up to the engine compartment. I have tried to help him on topics such finding the absolute largest turbochargers that fit in the physical space, offered opinions on breather system configs, etc. but he's had the decision making authority over all aspects of the iteration zero. I have to say that his system is extremely carefully thought out, has considered every single detail and its implications on the whole system. On other news, met with a coating contractor who quickly convinced me of the fact that although I could do the garage floor coating myself, he'll be able to do it better and at a reasonable enough price that I am better of not taking a day off from work to do it. That project starts tomorrow morning and the garage will be drivable Thursday night.
