Default looking for 17" rims

After a long hiatus (4 years since I sold my US 1985), I just picked up an 88 S4 from Mike Ignosci in VA (thanks Mike). I would like to change out the rims. Looking for 17inch cup 1s (aka C2Turbo?). Can anyone point me in the right direction or have any recommendations as to a vendor.

thanks
Mike B

Sorry that so few have replied Mike,

In my research the wheels are getting harder and harder to find. Wheel Enhancements seems to be the last place to order a set. I guess some of my problem may be the research. I am sure that there are some out there it is just finding the right channel.

From the Wheel Enhancement site the C2 Turbo 17's were never a stock wheel for the 928 but were optional and available thru porsche. I do not have the part # off hand.

I spent better part of a day or two trying to source out sets for pricing and it looks like they were running around $300 per wheel or $1200 per set, replica's included and there are variations on the replicas so be carefull that you try to get a matched set if they are used. If you keep your eyes open and scan PCA and other sources you will probubly stumble across a set but it may take a while.

Some other places to look:
- ebay (here's a set that looks to be correct offsets, item #370161724878)
- vwvortex
- tire rack
- PCA
- 944online
- pelican
- craigslist

OR some wheel rebuilders, you can do a search on google. Check out Andrews wheel fitment guide for exact details for size and offset.

There is also the Hershey swap that is coming up and you may be able to pick up a set that you like there. My last few Hershey visits it seemed as though "Porsche" parts sellers were looking for "Porsche" seller prices and they were not very reasonable.

Michael

P.S, it would be cool if you could remove my last name from the original post

Mike,

I "may" have exactly what you are looking for. I have a set of four Fikse forged wheels in 17", with mounted Michelin Pilot Sport Rib tires. These were custom made for a 928 ('86.5-95), with 9" front and 10" rear widths. They are the 10 spoke design, in polished aluminum. The tires probably have about 4-7 32nds tread depth (depending on the tire - wear is uniform). Rims are in great shape, with NO curb rash. I paid 928 Specialists about $2900 for the rims alone about 4 years ago. The rims and tires can be had for about half that!! These look GREAT on an S4, but I didn't like the look as well on my GTS, so I went to 18" wheels on it.
If you are interested, please send me an e-mail directly, and I'll respond with pictures and more details.

The current crop of 997 factory wheels have 928 friendly offsets and the 18's pop up on eBay from time to time since they come with the "base" model and most are upgraded to 19'+. This means many of the aftermarket wheels for the 997 will also fit.

I've picked up five sets of these off eBay, all 100% factory (purchased from dealerships) and the most I paid was $1600 shipped with brand new tires.

Two of those sets came with 11" rear wheels.
