FS: 18" 996 Hollow Spoke Turbo Twist Wheels
 

I've got a set of 18" 996 or 997 Turbo Twist wheels that came with the car when I bought it that I'm looking to get rid of.

These appear to be 18x8 in the front, 18x11 in the rear, with no curb rash. (The black line you see at the top is the leftover tire mounting lube that hasn't been wiped off yet, if it's important and you're interested, I'll wipe it off and take better pictures. :D ) The rears have brand new Pirelli PZero Corsa 295/30 18s (less than 500 miles on them) and the fronts are Sunny SN3800's 225/40 ZR18s (came with the car, but good tread, so haven't replaced yet.) There is some scuffing on the passenger rear wheel, I've included some pictures of the scuffed areas.

From what I've been able to figure out, 85 and earlier cars (like mine) will require rolling to prevent the tires from rubbing in the back with the 295 aspect tires. 86 and later have more room according to the guide, so you might be okay.

I'd like to get $1200 for them, since that just covers the cost of the rear tires I just replaced :D and for that price I'll deliver them in the DFW area - or bring them to you at the Shark Breakfast. I'll also ship them however you prefer for whatever the cost of the shipping is.

I just wanted to give everyone here a shot before I listed them on eBay.

You may need the part numbers as this rim was made in hollow and solid spoke.

The fronts will fit fine on a 928, as they are 18 X 8 et 50. Some people find tramlining a problem with that offset, but with Michelin PS2 tires, I haven't observed that on my '89 track car which has these front wheels with hollow spokes. The rears are a bit of a problem, as they have an offset of something in the low 40's and 11" wide (offsets marked by the valve stem). I have 18 X 10's on the rear with that low 40's offset, and the 295/30 tires essentially touch the edge of the fender without the edges rolled (so, of course I rolled them). The 18 X 10 with et 65 fits a bit better on the rear, but appears to be only available as an aftermarket solid spoke wheel in this "2nd generation turbo twist" wheel design. With some flaring of the fender (~3/4"), they'd probably fit. Theyshould also fit fine on GTS's without the OE spacer Porsche used for the 9" et65 Cup I or II 17" rims (but open lug nuts would need to be used, or shorter lug bolts).

IF your wheels are hollow, they are worth about 50% more than the solid spokes (weigh about 5-7 lbs less per wheel). Hollow spokes are smooth and slightly rounded on the back side, and the back sides of solid spokes are flat with grooves on each edge.

Agreed, I had to roll the lips on my '85, remove the spacer and use shorter wheel studs, but using open top lugnuts will work just as well (when I heard about it at the Shark Breakfast, I was like 'Shoot, why didn't I think of that?' Especially after whoever I was talking to said they used the factory closed nuts on top of the open ones and it looked really nice.) After bumping the ride height up, I haven't noticed any rubbing. From what I'm reading though, the rubbing is more due to the 295 aspect tires, and people who've used 285s and less haven't had as much problem with it. I just didn't want to unmount the brand new Pirellis and spend another $1000 in tires. :D

Yep, they're the hollow spoke version. They're rounded on the back and stamped BBS.

Fronts are 8 and 50 next to the valve stem. The part number is 996.362.138.04

Rears, are 11 and 45 next to the valve stem (11" width and 45 offset, I'd bet). The part number is 996.363.142.03
