Interesting.. thanks Roger.

The car has option 471 which is listed as "Sport Group 1", or "Integrated Rear Spoiler"

Here's the numbers of cars with that option code.
Code:
count(*) Year
2 1980
458 1981
1084 1982
4 1987
1 1988
The 1980 cars are VIN's 92A0811113 and 92A0811120 - wouldn't surprise me if they were pre-release examples for dealers or a motor show?

I'd guess the post-'82 ones are all integrated rear spoiler cars - they're 2 US, one canadian, one Austrian and one Japanese cars.

Yet another mystery solved. 27,6% of '81 MY and 38,6% of '82 MY US model were Competition Group cars.

I would be happy to help. I have been trying to find out more info about my car so let me know if you want me to measure anything and what exactly.

For reference I also have one of the XG8 cars part of the Exclusive batch. The only markings on the car to identify it as a specific version are actually on the hi-fi system!. The CD changer and the Amplifier are both made by Nakamichi, both branded "928 S4 Exclusive" ( below picture). Further to that the HU, tweeters and mid range speakers are all Nakamichi as well, but oddly enough the 6.5 speakers are blaukpunkt.

Here is my VIN and option codes:

WP0ZZZ92ZMS800780

XD4
XF2
XG8
XJ5
XL5
XX8
X22
139
340
400

No option code for the Weissach according to Porsche - however I have been wrong before.
I have #210 as well as #172.
Have a Jubilee as well.

Their VIN serial numbers span between 1495 and 1955. Would be interesting to know what Roger's #210's VIN serial number is.

Last 5 in reverse order were:

1955 - manual
1936 - auto
1808 - auto
1805 - auto
1801 - auto
Roger - any chance you could post the VIN of Weissach #210?

Thanks Roger.

Interesting - your #210 is the highest Weissach VIN with the Weissach option code (462) in the PET database.

#217 doesn't have the option code on it - but is also an earlier production number - its options are:

220 Locking differential
418 Protective side mouldings
438 Comfort seat right
471 Sport group 1
484 Symbols for controls
494 Amplifier system
650 Sunroof
900 Tourist delivery

(its also a 5-speed)

Even more bizzare - #217 shows as a Competition Group packaged car. Possibly its something to do with being Tourist Delivery and thus how it was turned into a Weissach separately from regular US-delivered production?

So it's logical to suppose that there are at least 15 Weissach cars without the option code, buried in the database somewhere. Might have to run some checks on option code groups to see if they're identifiable.

Edit: A quick check shows 91 North American cars in 1982 were Tourist Delivery (i.e. picked up at the factory). None have the Weissach option code, and all have the Competition Group option. Of those 91 cars, 50 are before the highest-known Weissach VIN (that Roger owns).

I was doing a little research tonight to try to clarify the numbers produced of each 928 Limited Edition, and once again found this thread very helpful.

Decided to bump it to the top so those who may not be familiar with it could see the information as well.

Nice thread, indeed

One of the 50 "928 S4 Exclusive" made for the Japanese market in for sale in France currently:
http://www.autoscout24.com/Details.a...000000&asrc=fa

and the exact same car was discussed here:

Tuning in here... I have found a '91 928S4 'Exclusive" for sale in France (originally German delivered)... it has the option codes 09981 09991 10141, but the only 'different' option I can see on the build sticker is XG8, which is listed as 'Rear Spoiler in body colour' (which it isn't). Current owner says it was a 'Porsche Show Car' by Porsche for 6yrs for events, with the special colour L38A, and very rare factory fitted Tow Hitch (no option code listed for it). I have read that the 'XG8' option could be for the GTS look, and it does have a GTS rear reflector bar but nothing else to do with a GTS... this really is an odd one for me. Wheels are not original - GT wheels with spacers currently fitted.

This does not look like mine which is one of the 50 Exclusive 91 S4's talked about in this thread. The car in your picture to begin with does not have the wide GTS flairs, nor the painted rear spoiler like mine does. The color is the same though and its gorgeous!
