Yup, motor mounts are shot. Get the solid ones from Roger at 928's-R-us.
But the motor mounts only make the problem more noticable. I still think you have a bearing shifted in the torque tube.

Where should the oil filler be relative to the cross brace?
Damn, I think I can do the mm's. Removing the rear suspension/trans/torque tube is much more intimidating. Could I get lucky and new mounts solve the problem?

the real test it to confirm if the oil pan bottom is flush with the cross member bottom
The top cross brace isnt always the same height as the brace mounts can sometimes be bent and then this changes the bar height.
From the picture the MMs are failed

Really recommend that you check the location of the front TT bearing at least before doing a MM job to correct something which it might not.
But the MMs seem to be gone from the pictures of your engine. It also looks as if your stock aluminum cross member is a bit bent. Is it eating into your hood insulation yet?
