Very very cool. You should make a kit with the base and the armrest. I know I would buy one.

I wonder if Paul offers it with the heated seat option.

Hmm, change the motors to 120VAC and a long extension cord and we can have 12 way, heated with lumbar!

Great job guys.

Do the arm rests open so access storage underneath?

For those interested in the brackets.....I'll go out to fab and see if my sketches are still kicking aound. Otherwise I'll have to take my chair apart to draw them again.

Swivel bases of this type are available from a bunch of places online. The one I'm using is actually a combination of a new one I bought and my "old" desk chair. When the new one came in I realized it did not rock back and I did not want to give that up. It also came with a 9" lift jack in it which is to tall. I robbed a 7" lift from my old chair.

I'll flip the chair over and get a few pictures of the brackets for you.

Wedge Engineering used to make bolt-on office-chair bases for Recaro seats. I dont know if they offer them anymore, but they may be a good source for the tilting base hardware.

I can just imagine someone taking a badly front hit 928 and cutting it in half by the b-pillars. Widen the rear mini-seats. Install mini-fridge in the center tunnel rear storage/rear A/C area.
Not sure what would go into the back hatch area.

The office chair door pocket storage can hold some tasty beverages.

Words can not adequately express how cool that is.

I would love to do something similar, but my shark demands I treat her first. But, someday.

Have you considered mounting a small battery in the arm rest and keeping the power features? This would let you avoid running an external cord, which would drive me nuts in an office chair.

I can't imagine the chair would require that much power, and as long as you could access the battery to recharge it every once in a while it should work great.

One of the things I discovered is that if want the chair to swivel/rock then the location of the seat post is very important. Mount it to far forward and you will end up flipped over backwards. For this reason, forward and back adjustment is best left as a set it & forget it thing. Backrest angle is adjustable but I have not felt the need to use it because the chair rocks back anyway. The lumbar is very functional and likely the most apt to be used feature.

Yeah, nothing makes you look cooler than going over backwards in your office chair.

Seeing these pictures has me seriously thinking about creating a lesser quality chair for the basement with a stable base and keep the full recline features. Would be great in front of the entertainment system or for relaxing reading a book. Get a good foot rest and presto, a very cool 928 recliner.

Now, I just need to find a decent 928 seat for cheap.
