Ride Height Poll
After the heated, seemingly religous debate on ride height over the past few days, I thought it would be interesting to see where most folks prefer to have their ride height set to.
This is a statistics poll, no discussion required.

My 79 was setup by the previous owner to be lower than almost any other 928 I've seen (in person), except for the all out race cars.
I like it, I have to be a bit careful entering driveways while turning though.
It's one of the best handling 928's I've ever driven. I'm not 100% sure what's in it, some combination of S4 parts and aftermarket or modified springs.
These were taken before the front had fully settled:

Funny, could have sworn that you and Bob were recommending factory setting of 180mm. Either way, you know what I'm recommending for those that care about looks and handling in the other discussion thread. the 10mm differnce between the two is hardly worth talking (or arguing) about. (a little over a 1/4" , but will require much care in driving, racing shocks, heavy swaybar, HUGE springs, etc etc)
Anyway, if you are 170mm, you still belong to the "factory setting" camp, along with those that only run stock tires, stock air pressure, stock alignment settings, 50/50 antifreeze, mobil 1, timing belt change every 60kmiles, and all the other things that the factory (precieved, "god " manual) says to do.
Wally, just razzing you !!

youre quibbling about 5mm??? Go on! Take the Plunge!! yes, call 165mm, 160mm! you never know, you might be at 160mm some day when the moon is close, air pressure is low, or the temp is cold! Be a risk taker! take me on for the .196" !!!!! What is that, a toe nail thickness???
After all, I said, near 1" lower than stock. I think that qualifies

There is such a thing as "too low" - where the suspension geometry is out of its arc, and you may have a hard time maintaining camber.
We may have been there... we went up a half inch and actually went faster - and the car felt better and more stable.

From the other ride height thread:
2/13 7:02 "Stick with 170mm and you should be OK. "
dr. bob
2/14 9:48 "I would strongly suggest stock ride height - close to 170mm. "
Wally
Looks like another poll with carefully selected answers...

Mine is set to 150 +/- 2 Front & Rear, and is a combo street and DE car. It has 600/400 hypercoils and Konis now, and may go to 800/500 with Leda/Motons/JRZ/Penske or similar in the next upgrade.. (Need to get out the calculator for wheel rates etc...)
I also have a crash guard made of steel that protects the sump, A/C, Alternator etc. I can post a pic later, but this crash grate is so strong, that it can support the fron of the car if I drove over a boulder and not break. It is also tied into the front frame rails....
I prefer the car low, and am careful over bumps, kerbs etc. My crash grate was installed after destroying several spoilers, but I still prefer the car low. It handles much better than stock, or the 170mm in the WSM...
Then again, I live in CA, and the roads are wonderful especially if I go down to the central coast wine country. I would raise the height 5-10mm if I lived in NYC or the like.. I have always had even tire wear except when a tech lifted the car by accident and the front was not settled. It then wore the inside fronts pretty bad in a few miles...
Just my $0.02,
