Our engines are so clean that we have been in the process of doing the paperwork for a CARB exemption.

Note that there are very, very few of our engines running around in California....that most of our engines have gone to different states or countries, so this has not been a big issue, for us.

Same here, except the CARB exemption.

I have customers in emissions states that have passed the visual and roller test with flying colors. They just have to make sure when they install the kit they route the crank vent and the BOV back to the airbox. As long as they have cats and pass the tailpipe test, they are in full compliance.

Just like you said, has not been a big issue.

I bet trying to get a CARB number or exemption makes a person understand why CA does not allow machine guns.

I would hate to have deal with that level of bureaucracy.

Why the BOV?

Think about it.......

Where does the air come from that gets blown out of the BOV?

Yep, you guessed it, the same air box that the crank vent is plumbed into. If you don't send the BOV back to the air box, it gets blown out to atmosphere.

Ironic that California is ground zero for the entire hot rod movement and a substantial industry surrounding it.

The Corvettes are set up differently than that, on them it is just compressed air.

Sorry, couldn't help it

Hanging around the kit car forums I was amazed how many (seams like a majority) are in California. For a state that appears to have a gestapo like DMV, there sure are a lot of radically modified cars running around that are from from "under the radar".

1/2 of Jay Leno's collection is illegal. Something tells me a custom 1-off chassis with a Sherman Tank engine is not CARB legal

I bet that they'd enjoy learning all about the car, and would probably even want to get a first hand look at Greg's shop, and all of the other cars he's worked on.
Why are you acting like this? The stroker/stock engine breather/with new cats IS legal - and thats the only thing that is. All this other stuff we do is in no way even remotely legal in the eyes of the nanny state. What you said above is not going to help you here.

Well, anything prior to IIRC 76 is exempt, so that is part of it. The other part is of course this and other states are very large - with ginormous amounts of bureaucracy and waste. "Buying" a good test is simple.
