Default Cayenne Y-pipe comparison

Thanks Roger. Looks like it goes into the throttle body from both intercoolers. So I guess it's coolant and intake.

The outlet (as it enters the TB) of both p/n's 955 110 046 00 & 955 110 046 50 (Turbo) are somewhere around 87mm, which makes sense.

The strict Cayenne calls it an "intake distributor" and the Cayenne Turbo calls it a "pressure pipe"

I find it interesting that the inlet diameter of the non-turbo is somewhere around 69mm, and the turbo 57mm. (this is rough, based on oring sizes listed in PET). Would the turbo diameter be smaller because it can be, as it's under boost?

Also worth noting, I guess... both have dual MAFs and they're on the inlet side of these "Y-pipes". Whereas the Ferrari 355 has a single on the outlet side, simlar to the 928.

The non-turbo Y-pipe appears to be much longer than the turbo.

Default INTAKE Y TUBE

OK just checked yesterday at parts department and i examined a new Panamera intake system. I believe the throttle body for the panamera 4s and turbos are the same in diameter. We have a larger MAF then the new car and i think the aftermarket Corvette tube will work;only if shortened... Any other members have anyluck on this?????

I trimmed down the Corvette tube to see how it fits in place. Will build the flange later on its is just the 1st step to see how it fits in place.Designed my own flange will get that made up next.

Bringing back a topic from a while ago, how about using the black plastic piece that Mark Anderson tried with the Phil's carbon fiber manifold, as pictured here:

Just a thought. Not sure what that part is from, but MA should know.

That will work for the front of the car for air pickup but no way would if fit to the MAF at the back of the car its limited on height.

Default INTAKE TUBES

Hello i did order mine yesterday too ! 3.5 diameter corvette short intake tube. Whats the lenght do you have to take off? and does the provided boot fits? Also on ebay -if you put in the search 3.5 intake tube - we can have 3.5 silicon elbow for 18.00 each and clamp it-the k&n filter 5052 AB kit and hoses from summit at 127.00x2-Its the same one on post page 2.

I cut it down to around 5inches which ended up being about 3.42 inside.
Need to trim it so the ID from left to right is close to that 86.5mm to match the MAF ID which is probably the height around 5 to 5 1/4 inches depending on wall thickness of the tube.
If you measure the inside of the MAF bore its 86.5mm or 3.406.A rubber and clamp wont work as it is now into the radius.I am going to make a flange to go onto that to the MAF.If there is a rubber 3 3/4 to 3 3/4 or 3 3/4 to 4 always possible to make a ring weld that to the short tube and then use a rubber to fit.I figured it would into the radius thats why wanted to get the tube so I could design the flange.
The provided boot is only 3 1/2 to 3 1/2 and knew that wouldnt work.
Those K &N are over 9inch diameter which most canister are 6inch or less which is what I would think would need.
I am going to wait till I get the tube and flange made up and mounted before I build out from there.

Have my base designed and machined up for now to the MAF.Time to get it welded up to the pipe.
The Corvette tube has the hole either can plug with low profile plug or cut pipe shorter. With cutting the pipe you get into the radius either circle mill the pocket to fit or do the complete job on the lathe and just fill with weld. There is only about .06 in the front to back area to fill.
