Default 86.5 T belt warning wire?

I am trying to figure out where it hooks up, (the wire to the warning light on the tensioner) It was unhooked on my basket case winter project and I am trying to make it right.
A picture would be nice. I have tried searching to no avail.
Thanks, Fred.

Look for a small round button behind the oil dipstick. Wire from the warning computer runs to that round connector, then from that rubber button connector, inside the belt cover a short wire runs to a 1/4" flat spade connector on the tensioner arm.

Thanks, I thought it went to the arm.

There is a flat metal strip that runs up the arm to the nylon bush and spring unit - make sure that it isn't broken. It was replaced by a black wire on later models.

Porsche replaced the flat connector b/c the motion it receives can twist and many failed; while the wire obviously can withstand that. I had a new flat one break w/i a few thousand miles. I did this solder job (don't laugh - probably can't see the detail, but the solder is attaching an "X" of 2 braided wires which can bend and/or twist. This worked til I installed a Porker. If you are replacing it, get the wire.

I will take a picture of what I have and post it tonight. Then you all can tell me what I need.

Go down to my thread "TB Job Questions" post #32. There is a picture of the harness that goes through the cover onto the warning switch.

Ok, Here is what I have, there is no metal strip just the tensioner and a bolt hole in it. It is an 86.5 that I got from an inlaw and it had a tbelt and wp failure. It was apart when I got it. I have repaired the heads and such, now I am reassembling.
So, does the wire just go to the tensioner? It has new bushings in it now.

That does not look like it is from an 86.5. _ 85 and 86 are different.
This is 87 and up.
And 85-86

The 85-86 has no wire. So, does the wire go directly to the arm?

The one in the picture is an 87 and yes, if you are running a 32v car, it will have that.

You can clearly see in your picture that the screw holding the wire connector is gone.

The above thread should help. First post has WSM schematic. Post 19 the 3rd, 4th and 5th pic down shows a spade at top of tension arm. A connector w/female spade goes from there to the TB cover. The button w/red O-ring (#3) plugs into the cover. The value of dealing with 928 Int'l or 928 Specialists or Roger Tyson is they know what you need. HTH.
