North Hollywood Speedometer at one time would solder jumpers onto the foil to fix the cracked circuits.

I met a guy the other day that fabricates custom circuit boards. I need to ask him if he could build circuit boards for our cars. '84 circuit board is NLA.

Nichols speedometer and instruments in Greensboro, NC has access to the boards but will not sell them as parts. They will however repair your cluster for a very reasonable price. Good people, fair and honest.

I had spoke in the late fall to Rodger at 928SRUS about the circuit boards. I know he was trying to source some...but unsure if he was able to nail down someone or if it's still in the works....Maybe he'll read this and have some news?....

I have an 84 that I parted from an instrument cluster that I got from Scot Mohr's auction a couple years back. Just sitting in my garage waiting to go to a knew home. Overall condition looks very good no issues. I can take pics if someone wants.

Brad, I believe that the circuit boards are somewhat year specific. If you do have indeed an '84 circuit board, hang on to it or send it to me. It's just liable to be a hot commodity.

after putting dash back in for the forth time, everything started working again, warning light staying lit though, really did not want to remove cluster, had to change ignition switch, tried to do it without unplugging it, no luck, needed the room, i have several of the lines peeling off and where it plugs in is very brittle, hope i do not have to remove dash any time soon, i have contacted several people for the 1982, they all say, sorry, good luck, is there a difference between a 928 and 928s on the printed circuit board

After discussion with the rep - they can duplicate the circuits we need.

There is a NRE charge plus the lot charge.
The NRE is $2500 and is a one time charge.
The lot charge is $1500 and is paid on every order.
This adds up to $4000 for the first order, which IF we could get 10 people would be ~$400 per circuit.
A sacrificial circuit is required for the redesign.

Several vendors have checked into this and found it to be less than profitable unless 100's are sold.
We also have no reliability data on how long they will last.

Cheers,
Nice job on the legwork.....it probably won't be long before we have to go that route...

it is the layered plastic sheet that goes on the back of the instrument cluster, it folds up to fit into the three plugs, it has dozens of copper trails that go from three large plugs to all the connections on gages, warning lights, instead of hard wired plugs,

I soldiered hard wires to my '81 last spring before going to SITM. It wasn't hard, it was cheap, and it works great. All the tabs were peeling off where the plugs went on to them. I took pics if anyone is interested.
