85 Stock LH chip with broken pin

85 Stock LH chip with broken pin
Since I am supercharging the car I need to go back to the stock chips. I bent two of the pins on my LH chip when I removed it and when I tried to straighten them one broke. My stock EZ-F chip is still good and I know that is the important one to change with the addition of an S/C, but is there a reliable way to repair the pin or would I have to get another chip?

I still have my stock ones. If they work on yours, you can borrow it untill you figure out what to do with your. I left my clones in when the SC went on.

You are still running the clone EZF chip and advancing the timing under boost; you have any issues with pinging or detonation? Also did you put a check valve on the EZF vacuum port so it only has vacuum and no boost? That is what my instructions say to do.

I once soldered the leg back onto a chip, but it wasn't for a car I was planning to drive . I have a set of stock chips laying around. They're yours to borrow for as long as you like, just let me know.

Yup, the clones are still in. I wa going to take them out but the A/F gauge alwyas showed to be on the border of rich, so I kept them in. No check valve on the EZF port either and I'm not running any boost timing retardation either. Haven't heard any detonation but I did blw the HG due to a failing injector. From what I can see, my set up is running slightly on the rich side and that's ok with me.

Interesting, FAST instructions say to put a check valve on that to only allow vacuum to the EZF and no boost because they said boost could damage it. Maybe Porken can chime in here to confirm if the EZF can take boost safely and what it will do to the timing under that condition.

The 951 boost controller uses a Motorola MAP sensor of the same series as the EZF, but it registers up to 2 bar, whereas the EZF has a 1 bar MAP.
I was thinking of using a KLR to control a low pressure mid-turbo on my '85, but the coding required looks like it will be too extensive. I will probably harvest the 2 bar MAP sensor from the KLR and put it into an EZF (remapped for boost), though.
FYI: the 951 tach will bolt right in to a '85-'88 928. (The EZF/EZK outputs a four cylinder tach signal.) You just need a 0-5V 2 bar MAP sensor to drive the boost gauge. The EZF has a MAP voltage output (pin 21) like the KLR, so I'm going to use the gauge (for now) as a vacuum gauge.

The ebay=AutoThority chips only work with boost because they have stock conservative LH and EZF WOT maps. Normally aspirated, they cannot dyno higher than stock for this reason!
At medium throttle they have too much advance, though, even with a stock engine, and will often ping, even with super.

Yes, mine will ping at part throttle in warm weather but never at WOT. So 1 bar is about 14 psi correct, so at 5 - 6 psi the EZF will be OK right? Will it retard the timing under boost with the stock map?
Would you think I would be better off with my stock EZF chip with boost or will it make a difference?

1 bar absolute, so that would mean it can't register any boost at all, right? 1 bar = naturally aspirated or aka regular atmosphere pressure......no boost. Or am I wrong?

I found that the stock cruise map is too advanced at ~5000 rpm, and will show knock at WOT (with a knock sensor/inaudible) once engine temps are above normal. (The 2-D EZF WOT map is bypassed with my chips.)
