SATA from 60-ish with both SRT-4 and MS3...MS3 was actually a little better to fall behind slower. NOTE - no coffee cans hanging off the back of either.
That said, exhaust doesn't neccessarily mean Stage2/3 mods, especially if you consider how many gi-normous exhausts are running around on AT Civics.
SATA's experience is equivalent to EVO's and STI's with only exhaust to ~120, then they begin to fall. Still, it's close enough that the edge goes to who jumped first, if driver is decent.
From a dig, it's all driver to launch...but equal launch and seems the nod would go to the weight of the neon.
Swaybar has a point, if your just having fun then find out. If you're settling something, bow out that it isn't worth your time to deal with a neon and he'll only be able to wonder if he could have beaten a Porsche.
FWIW, I timed the jump on an M6 entering the Fwy and by the time he realized I was around him and he needed the M-button to catch me, we were going fast enough get out of it. No jump an he would have walked me w/out the M, but now you can bet he'll go ahead and push it the next time just to be sure. Nevertheless, he gave a thumbs up and we both grinned big, but I'm surely not going to claim an M6 kill...unless I was in a neon....

My winter car, Ford Explorer is .41. Now that's a brick. Your typical Mack truck cab over is .6

Swaybar must not own a 928 and wants one... To say a 928 is a slow car is patently absurd! In its day it was one of the fastest cars made and even today it is no slouch. Sure there are faster new cars now...FINALLY! Give me a break on the overweight and underpowered. While that describes me pretty well, it is not indicative of my 928's!
Compared to the '85 5-speed and the 87 Auto, driving the '83 was a "meh" driving experience around town, especially from a standing start. Honestly, both my 1995 crown victoria PI(3700lb, 210 hp, 280 ft-lbs, 3.27 final drive ratio) and 2000 duratech Taurus(3300 lbs, 200,200, 3.77) felt stronger from a standing start than the '83(3300 234, 263, 2.2) . Granted, the 928 is going to catch them at the top end, but it's going to lose car lengths in the early going, especially something which was built to be a cheap drag car (the SRT).

John,
I think you said exactly what I said. For their time they were FAST cars...few faster in fact, regardless of transmission. Today not so much for the early cars, but jump up to '85 or newer and they will hold their own...even today. Especially against cars that are new and cost the same amount of money. Can you imagine a $13,000 new car that can keep up with a nice '87 S4? Not gonna happen...

I had a 97 neon when I got out of College....what a total POS! I must have put 3 head gaskets on it tilll dodge came out with the MLS gasket. I will never own another dodge after owning it. When I did the MLS gasket I also put a new head on it with racing parts..... large cam, valves, cam gears. With 7" wide tires it drove like it was on rails and I had a guy in a 5.0 stang get pretty pissed when he couldn't pass me at 130-140ish mph. IMHO the turbo should be pretty quick if it can get traction. Heck kids were adding turbos in the late 90's and hitting 12 sec 1/4 mile times. The problem with the 928 is traction. With my euro the whole rear end wheel hops and goes up in smoke. From a rolling 20-30 mph start I can hang with must newer vetts.... but from a stop I would get killed. Even with 11" wide tires on the rear of with my euro all I get is tire smoke. I thought about adding a SC or turbo but the car doesnt reall need it IMHO. I may add a sc/turbo in the future if I make it a 100% track car but on the open road it would be pointless in Michigan. MY $ is on the neon if your running stock rims/tires and he can put the power down with out tire smoke.

Another handicap....Icsmike's signature line..." 17" cup 1 wheels " odds are he is running some tall tires effectively acting like taller gears and a slower 0-50 .

Hopefully the brotherly grudge match turns out better all-around than this, but this guy has a funny personality. (srt4 at :50)

That's funny!
Here's one of my 928's at Road America, street-able, 2800 lbs and 320 rwhp:
My other one is much faster, but it's street-only.
I suppose if a stock-ish/street 928 is the fastest car one has ever driven, then it is the fastest car - to you; it's all about one's experiences.
With that said, I would caution against racing that SRT4 to avoid a possible unpleasant experience, as you will NEVER hear the end of it.

That video was to much! That srt4 blew by that 14sec car like it was standing still and it was't the launch. If that was me doing 144, I would have gone to jail and I would have lost my liscense for a long time. Had a freind that was caught driving to many times on a suspended liscese. 3 is a felony in the state of fl and he got a judge in a bad mood, got a year and a day in state prison....Fla doesn't play they make money this way!
Moral of the story, if you blow by a cop at 144mph, floor it, take the next exit and try to lose him....it's really not that hard with that big of a jump on him but it isn't for the faint of heart as you will feel like you are going to have a heart attack in the process.....or at least that is what I am told!
