Dwayne,
Very nice on all the pictures and time to go step by step.
There is 4 sections as of now on the post.
I went to (File)
(Save as)
Then use drop box to save as a (Web page complete)
This save all the pictures with the html for each section.
You have to do this for on each page to an external or flash drive.
For anyone that has an old computer and just want to have it in the garage would be able to still use the post step by step without being online.
I have it all in one folder now and can click on each section without being online.
You have to name each page as you save it.
Use external drive or a flash drive get an older laptop for garage use and can use it while doing any of the repairs.

Excellent Idea, Mark!! Thanks for posting this info and the slick way to have these procedures available "in the shop" without being online - COOL!

I've been having a little trouble copying this post down to my computer - the pics aren't coming down. I usually highlight the sections I want to copy, click copy then paste the section with pics into MS Word. When I have all the post included in the Word Document, I do a "Save as Web Page". Then I transfer these files to Bill Ball who posts it to "Dwayne's Garage". For some reason, this time, the pictures are not copying to MS Word. It used to work several months ago. So I may just use your method to see if I can get the text and pics down.

THANKS again for the info!!

On a Mac, the easiest way is to print to a pdf file. That's what I did.

Question: Is the 86.5 much different from the S4 with respect to the TB/WP job?

---

Dwayne-- you are really a great teacher. I hope that part of your professional life has a teaching component, because you are very gifted at it.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Dwayne,
not sure why the pictures aren't copying.
I know a few days ago I couldn't get in with old Internet Explorer 6 and pictures weren't even showing up.Updated to Internet Explorer 8 and was able to get back in the forum.I wonder if that may be the problem with the MS Word from the webpage it happened right after they had the notice of updating or changing Firewall thats when Explorer 6 stopped working few days ago.
The way I did it all the pictures should load into their own folders.
You have to save each section.
Example save as give it a name as Timing_repair
They went into their own folder.

Then I went to the next page 2.
Saved as Timing_repair2
those went into another folder for that page2

Then went to page 3
Saved as Timing_repair3
etc.
They will create a folder for each section to match each page.
It will work offline the same as being online and all your pictures will be there to copy for your website if you can't get them like the way you were doing it.
Someday thou you should have Cd's for sale I think it would be good idea and seller.
I did check out some of the website on the projects nice work too!
I'd go for CD's for different repairs.

Dwayne, can't do much but echo the others. Thank you so much for this. This and your other detailed guides have taken so much fear out of working on this car I just can't begin to tell you.

Thanks again.

THANKS for the tip, Mark. I'm still using IE 6 - that may be my problem. So I may have to update and try it again.

THANKS for the great feedback Dave, Scott, and Jay!

Dwayne,
Your write-ups and pictures are ABSOLUTELY awesome. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time and detail you put into these in order to help all of us "challenged" mechanics deal with the mechanical aspects of our favorite cars.
THANK YOU (big time!! - ha).

Gretch is there any way we can sticky this thread? Possibly by far the best DIY thread I have seen in this forum. It's so detailed and in-depth I can probably do my timing belt service in my sleep later this year thanks to this!

Hello Scott,
Sorry - I didn't answer your question! I have not done an 86.5 yet but will next year. However, I believe the main difference will be in the cooling fan and throttle linkage. The cooling fan is belt driven on the 86.5 vs electric dual fans on the 87+. Throttle linkage is also up front and would need to be removed with the fan. There may be a few other minor differences like wiring harness routing but other than that, the rest should be the same. Perhaps someone here can confirm. Hopefully, this helps.

Gary, Jason, Andy - THANKS for the GREAT feedback!

John-- could you PM me your address so I can send you a check for the 86 manual? And, does your manual cover 86.5 TB jobs?
