All fixed, and on it's way home.

The old socket had pulled straight out of it's solder joints(!), so I just had to reflow the joints around a new socket. I had to fix one jumper, and one trace.

I´m back!
I did a little tour to my favourite porscheshop and than to my wife in Hamburg. :-)In the morning back home.
After 350 km and 170 km autobahn I can say the car is really fast.I have the feeling at 5500 rpm is the max. power.
For more power the engine need cams with more lift.
The wintertyres hold me back and I drive a few km 240 km/h.
In the area from 3000-5500 rpm the car has more power.

I didn´t grind the intakelegs because the hole in the heads is bigger than the runner. Also I have the steelgaskets.

I´m very happy to own this brute car. ];-)

Ken,

For the record, I did the same thing to my intakes last winter after seeing what the insides looked like.

I have to say I was not impressed with the castings for the cam covers and intake runners when I stripped them down. Looks like they counted on some heavy duty filler and primer. The cast seams are CRAP and were never ground down before assembly.

Having done that, my car dyno-ed pretty well with the AA chips and crossovers last year (292 rwhp) with stock air filter setup. I can't WAIT to get back now to try out the s300s chips and my custom air filter setup.

Mike, thanks for turning me on to the Porken chipset mod in a similar thread over on RW.

Great power-addition. And, I discovered with the blink'r that my WOT switch is not opening. Way to share.

Only 150 mph?

I suppose it may be difficult because you changed chips at the same time, but can you feel any difference in response with the 80mm Drosselklappe?

If you lay the steel or paper gasket over the end of the leg, you can see the holes do not match very well on some cylinders. You want to grind some out so that the gasket hole, and the intake holes match better across all cylinders.

The head ports are nearly the same size as the gasket but are not perfect, either, but you can't fix that without removing the head.

Driving it is the same as with 75mm but I think the acceleration after pushing the trottlepedal is very good.In 2 and 3 gear the tyres are spinning free on wet road and I´m very pleased .
Walter Rörhl says to customers of a driver training :" Good racedrivers have the flies and moscitos on the sidewindows!" ;-)
150 mph was fast enough in the dark on wet autobahn.I have a little bit Angst on this conditions! ;-)
Next week I change to summer tyres and than I look how fast the car goes.
Last year I reach 161 mph gps readings.Odometer say 173 mph.

Fantastic, Ken! Pulls harder through all gears...2nd is flat scary and past 80mph. Cold idle is much improved and when I stomp on the throttle the car seems much more responsive. Can't wait for the dyno next weekend. I really appreciate you going so far out of your way to help a brother out. If you're ever in Houston...dinner is on me!

Bill,

Glad you got it all sorted and back together. Also good to hear you got good results with the chips. I should be placing my order very soon (with blinker, borrow if you need to)

I'm looking at these pictures of ground intakes and it's really making me want to tear into my top end. Got a new set of pivoting Gear wrenches today, so ready for anything.

Borrowed Bill's gauges and vacuum pump today, so may be recharging my AC tomorrow, once I get the rebuilt hose back on. Dropped the compressor this evening.

Dyno next weekend? Where are you taking it? Are you going to make TWS too?

I know it's not required but you can also switch over to a brand new set of Ford 24lb injectors at the same time. Nothing like new parts to wake things up in there.
