Default Instrument & Gauge lights not working

I was heading out tonite and as I pulled out of my driveway the lights went out in the instument pod. The car is an 86 manual......I checked #5 & #44 which the manual says works those...but the fuses are fine.....Anyone else had it happen?? Trying to figure out what to check next....all other lights and electronics work fine...
Heading down to Boston tomorrow and would like to solve this so while night driving down there I'm able to tell what speed I'm at and how the oil and temp is running....
All and any tips are greatly appreciated!

Check the two wires that go to the dimmer control, if one of them is loose or dropped off you will loose everything even though the power is there.

if this is the problem and the lights flicker when you move the wheel , try removing the part from the pod one screw, only turn it out about 4 turns then lift the part clear.
Take an eraser and clean the spring and also tak a punch and restake the brass rivets that hold the metal to the housing this should return the resistance group to function.
The install it to the wires and check it if its good then set it into the pod and tighten the screw.

BTW the wheel for the lights is on the left hand side of the pod, the RS wheel is for the wiper delay speed

Update......Thanks for the tips All!!!! It seems that we were all on the same page being the dimmer switch on the pod......found out that as it was turned if pressure was put diagonally as it was adjusted that contact was made and inst lites worked.....Came back fom Boston in a driving rain and fog....pod lites are working fine....I plan on dismantling the switch and cleaning the contacts today...Once again thanks for the quick replies and help! By the way .....guess I missed the forums being down......came back last night and was unable to sign in and leave my thanks but seems all is working today!
