Two personal-experience recommendations for CT mechanics:

Nino Performance
256 Amity Rd
Bethany, CT 06524
203-393-3434

They service my 928. They are excellent mechanics - I never had to bring my shark back to fix anything they had done, not counting when he put the correct AC belt on my car but the non-OEM clutch pulley turned out to be a different size. Very reasonable rates, will work with you to provide parts, and although he works on just about every make (particularly English, German, and Italians), he NEVER seems to lack a P-car on the lot. Our PCA region president brings his GT3 there, if that's enough of a recommendation for you.

Dan Jacobs LLC
115 Hurley Road, Building 7 C-E
Oxford, CT 06478
203.262.0569

Dan is a bit of a 911 specialist (road and race cars) but he has a mechanic on staff (Bela) who has owned and tracked 928's over the years, so he's my go-to guy for work that is particularly 928-specific.

I think if Carl is developing a list, and calling the listed, then it would make the most sense to consolidate there.

I bought my '90 GT from Bela, but don't have it serviced by him.

Default Thanks for the link.

[QUOTE=Randy V;7053018]From the 928 FAQ thread located at the top of this forum:

The list shown on this link has a lot of the 928 mechanics some good but also some not so good. Use at your own risk.

Yes. Wicky Lawrie at Renntag Motorwerks. I haven't needed him for anything major yet, but I've had him do a few things on my '88 S4, and my impression is that he is very experienced with 928s and this is also confirmed by others I have spoken to at the monthly PCA dinners hosted by the Musik Stadt PCA region here in Nashville.

My car is currently on the 'injured reserve' list (i.e. 'disabled list', LOL), and is holed up at McDaniels Porsche in Columbia SC. Richard is the lead (and only) Porsche tech on their staff, and has 35 years of experience. I am told that he is very knowledgeable with these cars. I will be finding out soon. My timing belt broke 20 miles outside of Columbia SC on a return trip from Myrtle Beach to Nashville. I had to be flat-bedded in to McDaniels, and my car is in their hands now. The car is supposed to be finished soon, so I will be finding out the results in the very near future.

This is fantastic. Thanks to all for such a good response. I have a lot of calls to make!

Some of you have PM'd me with changes that need to be made to the current list, and I'll get those done too.

If you haven't already seen it, here is the current list. 928 Mechanics sorted by State:

Hi Everyone,

I can recommend the guy who did the work on my 928 for the PO the past 4-5 years. When I bought the car, his guys did the water pump/timing belt plus a few other items on the car for me.

Import Auto Services
1177 Alpharetta Street
Roswell, GA 30075
Phone: 770-998-1886

Steer clear this guy is a professional car destroyer.
Kevin who?
