If he's been trying to sell it for that long without a sale, his issue is presentation and apparent condition. $62k is entirely possible, depending on financial/household/parking space/moving/etc. pressures, given how long he's been thinking of selling it.

Michael Wilhoit and Todd both know how to stage a car well, and would hit "proper" value for it.

At $62k, they'd both spend $5-15k and make it into an $90k car. It would then have all-original bits including stereo, no paint issues, be spotlessly clean inside and out, and have all required maintenance carried out to make sure it passed a PPI with zero issues.

If that car were in Australia and RHD, I wouldn't have wasted my time posting in this thread - I'd be trying as fast and quietly as I could to contact the seller and negotiate a sale

Hope someone in this community has done same, and not just to flip it

Hilton,

You are ABSOLUTELY right on all of the above! Michael and Todd would take that car to AS NEW condition and then get TOP dollar for it! Which is JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD BE! Love seeing these low mile cars still popping up! AWESOME!

Damn, that's an expensive wash job!! That's all he did to the GTS he flipped for $30k profit.

They usually just clean them up real good and post them on eBay.

Well, I know Todd has removed front ends and had them repainted and done some SERIOUS detailing to cars. To FULLY detail a car to bring it to as close to new condition as possible requires about $1000 to $1500 to a VERY, VERY good pro detailer. Engine compartments are really tough to clean to that as new level... Sure an individual can do it, but they rarely do. If you want top dollar for the car it NEEDS TO BE DONE though...

James is right, to properly detail a car like this and make it look like it just left the factory would cost at least $1,500.00. I would say $2,000 is a closer estimate but might be more depending on its condition. Keep in mind that it is at least 40 Hours worth of work and includes wheel wells, engine bay, interior, paint, trim etc. Once done the car is completely transformed.

A car with low mileage such as this should not need any type of respray unless its been in an accident. It may need some minor touch up and definitely polishing to create a mirror finish.

I'd hope they'd replace the 14-year-old tires on it, too! I wouldn't drive those over 50 mph... scary!!

Even $62k seems like crazy money to me, but what do I know about the GTS market? (don't look at my sig... the answer is an un-ironic "nothing")

Afshin, right on the money man! If the car is already in pretty good condition (as would be expected with 6500 miles on the clock) then I think $1200 to $1500 would get it done. Most of the cars that Todd buys are higher miles than that though (still low mile cars most of the time, but usually above 30k miles still) and those cars take the SOLID 40+ hours of work you talked about. Thus $1500-$2000 in detail work... PLUS front bumper cover pull and repaint usually, sometimes the mirrors too.

Tom, if ONLY it were an Automatic! Would LOVE to finish out the GTS run with a '93 and a '95!! Love the avatar btw!!!

Trying not to sound like a pud here, but forums are a riot... the armchair SWAG is humorous. Conjecture / hearsay is always dangerous. W/o getting into it, I'll agree that it didn't sell 'then' for a reason and also agree WRT 'market'. A couple of posts here outright slayed me - sometimes people need to take a step back and read what they're writing... amazing.

Funniest is price it too low and everyone is up in arms about it, as by proxy it devalues "their" car. Price it too high and you're a criminal, thief, dreamer, GREEDY. My friend has it priced honestly, with hopes it finds the RIGHTFUL owner. Like many of YOU, really - I love that you guys are gamer enough to have 2 or more of these things... that's pretty cool. But speculation unfort isn't your forte 8-) (c'mon laugh w/ me a bit here).

After sharing some of the feedback he's somewhat leaning toward keeping it in his collection and enjoying the outright uber awesomeness of it's utter newness. One of 3 silver sticks and the 62nd of the last 77, under 7k miles... ain't gonna happen again he figures.

ANYwho

Regardless... after a well known forum member was given 1st rite of refusal and wasted a few days of everyone's time the GTS remains available for the time being. Interesting tho was info that arises on such convos and about the 'perceived' market. That's all I'll say, speechless I am on 'that one' - careful out there is all I'll say. I'm sorry to those who inquired directly to me to whom I delayed a reply as such, not fair to you but blame 'someone' here. Pretty unfortunate but hey live and learn.

The car is stellar in every respect, nearly newer than new. "Needs bumpers removed, trillion dollar detail job, etc. etc. etc.". What a hoot. It's perfect, and had all the attention it demands. No paint work, no nothing. It's the real deal. Email me for further detail, if you're serious and not just out to either 'debunk a myth' or lowball or, well, whatever. He's a great guy, I'd like to think the same of myself, been 'here' for 8yrs. No smoke / mirrors (unlike the 'info' I got about other situations out there - sad/true) - it IS what it IS. Hope that's clear? Sorry I'm not trying to be a toolbox, just that some of the banter is rather frustrating and can be exhausting - hope you all understand.

Anyway, really hope this finds the right DESERVING home, as does my friend. Tx for listening...

Regards,

-Paul

Dude - *really*?

Why - are you interested???

>>>or <<<

are you a forum 'expert' that likes to 'know it all' and be on the forefront of every interesting opportunity even tho he has no interest / ability to buy it?

There's one (or more) in every crowd.

No offense, I'm sure you're an OK dude, but... c'mon - who pissed in your Cheerios? Geesh - way to make friends there chiefy. Sorry, I have little tolerance for forum games.

Funny, yours was one of the posts that cracked me up most before (the 'no offense' post). Least you're consistent. I know I'm playing in 'your sandbox' here and am the 'outsider' but if you posted a cool 930 FS in the 930 section I can guarantee you this wouldn't be the respone there - I don't get it?

Listen, allow me to spell this out for you...

...the car's for sale, it's awesome, if you want it - email me. That's all there is to it... I'm not sure how much more clear I can make it for you and won't be wasting time / energy with the silliness - sorry.

I was hoping the car would find a proper owner and figured that person would be here - would love to be proved right rather than belittled by a bunch of keyboard jockeys...

Sorry to inform you, it's unlikely you'll find a buyer here or any other forum. Do a search on GTS prices and you'll see the same ole debate many times over. When I saw your post I could have told you where it would end up.......

I know as one of the keyboard jockeys you make reference to, some of your venom/name calling was directed at me too but you should know that most on this and other forums don't believe that the GTS is worthy of high prices. I happen to disagree and do so with first hand knowledge. I will speak up everytime the topic comes up (...or whenever I happen to be on the boards and see it). Do I have a vested interest in GTS prices remaining high? Yes but, I also know the market pretty well (as a 911 owner I doubt you do...) as I have bought and sold 3 of them in the past couple years and keep up with what others are selling them for on a regular basis.

If you don't want discussion...put it on autotrader.... If you want to point to a for sale ad..you must list a price everytime or the post will be deleted....

Come in here with a chip on your shoulder... you'll end up over at the bird board in no time ...

Cheers and good luck with the sale..

I just need to know which size lotto ticket I should be buying.

But if you want me to be serious, then just for a minute.

No I am not considering buying this car, I like drivers, not parkers.

What has this a bit derailed is that "my friend wants to sell his car" is snafu we have all BTDT. The price, condition, terms wiggle for a month and the car is still not sold.

Chuck / Tom-

Point taken Tom regarding "discussion" - no prob with that but keep it accurate and sensible is all I ask. Chip on my shoulder? Sorry, comments like "or is it more of a hey everybody look at what I have and its not for sale" elicit 'some' sort of frustration - no chip here, I am sorry you feel that way. Bird board, well, honestly I do enjoy it there more, much less snobery but everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Chuck your contribution with the Registry is amazing and you obviously know these cars and know it, and I was by no means discounting that or calling you a keyboard jockey - but - you can't deny the general conjecture. Don't think I had any venom / name calling tho, that's a stretch. Remember, this wasn't a post about 'what is it worth' that was seeking debate (the type of post you refer to above where you could predict where it was going), it was merely a heads up on something cool.

and

No need to apologize to me with 'sorry to inform me', nothing lost here. I was hoping I was helping someone out who might want something like this - I'll certainly think better of it next time something cool comes up. That's unfortunate, I know I always enjoy hearing of such things.

Tho... careful Chuck with the "as a 911 owner" bit, you don't know me from boo, what I know / don't know... *that's* conjecture.

Also unfort to see this degenerate like this - had higher hopes than that.

Sorry to bother you all...
