Default Flowmaster Model

Hey folks!

Wanted to ask you fellow shark owners what model of Flowmaster muffler do you use? Having some difficulty picking one out for my 90' S4. Thanks to all who respond!

Skip the Flowmaster and get a Spin-Tech instead if you want a chambered muffler, the Flowmasters always seemed to drone badly around 2.5-3k RPMs and the Spin Techs do not. Power is basically the same.

Better yet, get a Magna-Flow for a great sound and great performance.

Anything but a FlowMaster! They should be used on HD pickups only.

I had very good luck on my supercharged Isuzu V6 with the DynoMax SuperTurbo. Let's out a nice gurgle without getting too loud. Cheap too!

Only use mufflers with documented and verified flow rating. CFM at known pressure differential, say 20 inches of water. If those are not reported for "performance" mufflers, they are likely to be snake oil. Personally, I have found Dynomax's documentation most transparent and convincing.

Sound you have to listen to yourself, tastes are so different.

What sizes are a correct fit? i.e. dual in/dual out 2.25?? Overall length or height ranges?? I currently have an RMB on my 89 daily driver, and the drone is too much.

Ok... Magna-Flow it is! Do you remember the model number of the muffler you use or will it be easy to find on their website? Thanks again!

Dynomax or Magnaflow, both make a variety of styles, plan on any single chamber to be loud.

Here's what I used on an 84 true dual conversion.

Part number for 2 1/4 mids, # 14375 (Pair of mids, same side offsets)
For 2 1/4 dual in/out Mag, # 14378 (Rear, need some tip work though, still, as outlets are spread too wide)

You might need 2 1/2 if you have a newer car. Magnaflow Online catalog worked for selection. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/u...asp?shape=oval

I tried to order online but they go through distributors. So I went and special ordered at Pep Boys and saved shipping. Took 10 days though.

Some pics in here somewhere. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-to-duals.html

Somebody else here from NJ I think did a similar install, that's where I got the idea.

...Ahhh.... here it is....

I ran an RMB, X-pipe w/o cats, and FlowMaster Super 44's on my '87 S4 and loved the sound.

It didn't drone at highway speed and it sounded awesome as hell when you dropped the hammer.

I will probably put a set on my GTS soon. I just like the sound.
