Default Achtung Light on after lights turn on

about 30 seconds or so after I turn my lights on the [!] light turns on, but no 'idiot' light comes on relating... Is this perhaps reading one of my bulbs on the car is burnt out?
I checked the tail lights, but not sure what this thing may read?

You may have an idiot light out. The behavior suggests that you've got a running light out, or the warning system thinks one is out. It's very touchy and will give a sorta-false positive if you put the wrong wattage bulb in. Try re-seating the connectors to the brain under the driver's dead pedal.

The "!" light comes on, but you don't have a corresponding message on the display? My 84 usually will have something other than just the main warning light up, like a "parking light" or "brake pad" message.

I do not think the rear side markers, maybe it is the fronts that are not, one of them are not monitored.

ok, so it does look like outside lights from your guys responses. I will go and check this, must be a running light or one of the side markers you guys suggested.

thanks

I kept getting a rear tail light out and kept messing with the RR tail light but it seemed like it would work for a while then stop so i replaced the bulb for the 3rd time and while walking around the car noticed the LR side marker was out, replaced the side marker bulb and no more warnings this was on the 86.5

I replaced all of my rear bulbs and rear side marker bulbs with all new matched types. Mine lamp would fire every so often and they all worked. Cleaning did not help but replacing them with all new MATCHED ones did.

Same problem ... however intermittent. The marker was good when I checked it but once on the road (hitting some of the potholes) and the ! would come on but all would be okay when I checked it back at home (all the front, read and side lights were lit). Had to pull over to finally catch it. Turned out to be dirt in the plug connector to the driver's side rear marker. Unplug and cleaned-up ... no problem since.
