Headlight Upgrade 928S4 Parts
Hi Folks,
Thought I would share some work I have done recently to Upgrade my 928S4 Headlights to take any 7" Headlight.
It Started out as just wanting to see better at night and evolved into something a lot more.
It Turns out it is almost impossible to get a 8" light to replace the factory light, but for anyone who has a 7" you are spoiled for choice with upgrade options.
The Jeep 7" replacements seemed to be the most common out there but what I put together seems to work for almost any generic upgrade light.
The most useful tool for keeping my old cars going and fixing little parts has become my 3D Printer, so I put together an adapter that uses all the original Porsche 928S4 Bucket Hardware and doesn't modify any of the cars supports to fit it.
Here is what it looks like.
Headlight Adapter 3D View
Adapter Fitted to 7" Light
Headlight With Surround
I printed these using PETG Matt Black, but you could print them with whatever filament or color you want or even paint them to match the car color.
The Screws I used for assembly are M4 4mm Stainless and with the PETG and a slightly smaller drill will thread themselves.
The Adjustment Screws are inserted into the slots and pockets by heating up one of the M4 Screws and Pushing it into the Marked Slots to create a melted slot that is slightly smaller than the adjustment screw notch.
If you dont have a 3D Printer just send the files out to one of the Maker Services to print them for you.
Attached are the STL Cad Files needed for the Adapters.
Hope this is useful to other 928S4 Owners.
All the Best,
Greg

Nice work, though I'm not a fan of the modern mukti-faceted LED headlights on a 928. Every gen of 928 looks best with H4s IMO and then use LED or HID bulbs in them to improve the light output.

Very interesting as it's what I've been thinking about.
What about having a string of LEDs in the outer ring to act as Daytime Running Lights? I like the idea of those then appearing from the front as an oval and have them switch off when H/Ls are switched on and rise.
I know 7" lights can be obtained with a built-in 'halo' ring, but I prefer the idea of a larger diameter halo (so wider oval) and full 7" then available for H/L beams.

The best lights are from JW Speaker. However they are very expensive. They even have lights with built-in directional aiming so the light can turn into the corner. All built-in to the light unit. Can't say I've ever felt a huge need for that, but doesn't mean it's not a good idea. Cost is the issue though.
Otherwise, just look on eBay. Huge variety available.

These lights are from AliExpress but I do have a few other types I tried out to make sure the adapters would work with the different styles of heat sinks on the backs. These ones are super bright with extra large heat sinks and have the third light for day running. Another set I have has a dual Color Halo Ring with allowing for day and a turn indicator. Morimoto is actually my choice as I have used their projectors to upgrade the 911 Lights.
911 Morimoto HID screwed into original buckets. Clear Lenses from Rennline.
The poor old 911 haven’t had a headlight since the 1970’s.

I decided it would be better to keep indicators where they are at sufficient distance to be fully noticeable even with headlights on. However, if the halo indicator ring was used simultaneously with the original indicators lower down, that would possibly provide the best of both worlds. Hmmm.
Maybe the adapter that is the subject of this thread could have a built-in ring of switchable white/amber LEDs. Yes I think I like that idea. And I still have the MoriMotos I took off the other car …

I will upload an updated trim ring and photos once I have it painted and fitted on the car. The trim ring could easily be modified to take extra Leds If or a strip around the ring if that was something someone wanted to do. The reality is that Parker or Turn signals are not something that is going to be visible with a pop up light.
