Story told several times here but the crux is
Bought car online site unseen except pix and reputation
Flew from Bay Area to NJ to close deal and drive home
5 hours into trip with a stop to visit Jim Pasha scheduled
slight left curve on hwy 80 at 80mph at 8Pm, committed to next offramp with motel and never made it
first storm of season
black ice, foreign to me, left curve became full left turn at 80 to head-on into center guard rail
front of car exploded, I blacked out and spun fore to aft and aft to fore damaging all 4 corners.
missed by 3 big rigs as I coasted slowly backwards back across the highway. no brakes, no lights, no hand brake. Saved by state hwy worker with 1 ton truck and huge wooden bumper. Just the beginning. Trapped in Amish country for 4 days until the 968 network saved my butt. Car el gonzo!

Sorry to hear that. We were going to buy a 968 in violet blue metallic that looks just like your color. The owner had a change of heart and decided to keep it. At least he was honest enough to tell us in advance so we could cancel our flight to pick it up and drive it back.

I actually flew to Long Island to see a cab that color which turned out to be junk.
There used to be a coupe in Hayward with a ton of mileage.

Probably not. The car I was looking at was in Nevada. Belonged to a nice guy whose father died (original owner). If I was him, I'd have kept the car too.

That is my wish for my family too. Don't go out and pawn my s**t off when I die just to pay bills and buy crap stuff millennials seek to covet.

As for the whole 'next Porsche' idea....that got repurposed thanks to the release of the Mercedes AMG GTS.

No way. I'm just saying I'm not buying another Porsche the next time around. I also have to send my kid to school first and buy another house before I can take advantage of the soon to be fast dipping market for one. We are clearly in the saving mantra right now. A 928 doesn't help the cause either.
