I'm sitting here in the office trying to figure out if he needs to go lay down. Never get a straight health answer out of him. He insists on working. Good thing Zane is around to beat him up.

He won't get far with one of these.

If he don't rest his eyes, as had been posted.

GO LIE DOWN, ROG.

Hi Guys,
Yes I am back and thanks for all your kind words.
The jokes cheered me up no end.
Surgery went very well and this morning the specialist removed the eye patch.
I have a left eye that looks like srawberry mush but I can see light and some movement.
I am taking it easy!!!
Roger

Just spoke with Roger. We decided that alcohol will thin the blood and reduce the pressure on the retina. Improves circulation if nothing else. Needs an inert red wine carrier.

Meanwhile, I'm off to the eye doctor to 'see' about some stuff he wants to do. Dull razor blade incision in the top of the eyeball, reach in with a rusty pair of needle-nose pliers and pull the old lens out. Roll up the new lens like a spitball in the end of a soda straw, and plooof it into the eye. Staple the eyeball shut again. Agitate until the lens unfolds in place. Repeat in the other eye. You can only imagine why I just couldn't see clear to have this done before. I'm at +9 diopters correction, gotta do something to keep my nose above my lips.

The letters will look much better on the computer screen once you are able to remove the eye patch and regain full use of your eye-sight

Roger and I took a quick picture for my new website a few days before surgery. At least he was in good spirits.

Ask him about his previous adventures in California...

(Wow, upon rereading my post, I sure left myself wide open for that one. Major oversight.)

Thumbs up

This is Jolly Roger's first mate here. Just wanted to confirm the pirate sailed thru the surgery yesterday with true flying colors and was awarded the White Eyepatch Of Courage in consequence. But this morning the naughty boy was caught skyving and was forced to walk the plank back to the doc's office, surrender his eyepatch, and catch the redeye back to work.

He'll be semi-eyeless for a bit while the retina re-cements itself but I'm sure he'll compensate by being semi-legless as much as possible in the off hours. I reckon it's a fair exchange... but I wish he'd consulted me before whacking his head on the floor while breaking up a domestic catfight because I could have saved him the trouble - I'd have told him he didn't need to detach his retina just to justify a drink or five of an evening. (And besides, at this point I'm ready to let the cats claw their way through their problems on their own, especially since one of them's the reason we don't have a parrot anymore. Amazing what you get away with if you're a beautiful, cute, cuddly *****. )

Anyway... Thanks to all for your encouraging words and unflagging support, good humor, and patience. We look forward to seeing you at OCIC!

Cheers,
Zane T. (Agent99 to Rog100)

PS Seeing as I'm an ignorant Rennlister-by-proxy I can't figure out how to insert photos in this message so (I think) I've created a photo album with the pix of the WEOC award ceremony and Rog catching the red-eye back to work. I hope you can see them!
