What's missing on this air duct?

Below is a pic of what I believe to be a complete air duct for the S4...and then a picture of what I ordered and received from a parts dealer (part no. 928 575 521 01). Is the piece that's missing important to cooling? Is the piece that's missing something that I should have also received or is that piece a different number? Also, how should the lower piece be oriented?
My car didn't come with ducting and I'm trying to replace it. The cooling fins are not important to me. I just want to make sure that all the air that can gets funneled to where it should go. Thank you, H2 |
Have you looked at the PET? It shows what your asking...I just can't copy that couple of pages for some reason.

When I looked at PET it appeared that the assembly only had one number. Perhaps I was wrong?

Your upper pic is my S4 air duct, part # 928-928 575 521 01. It's part # 19 on page 37 of the 87-91 parts pdf. Your lower pic looks like the upper half of the air duct, it's not complete. Does the one you have look broken off at the lateral edges? |

Harvey- if by 'other piece' you mean the vertical rectangular frame that the actual cooling flaps sit in, your car should already have it (your 40K mile '88, right?), unless someone's had the nose of the car off before and removed the ducting AND the frame. But if you mean the "lower half" of the cooling duct, that ain't a separate piece- the cooling duct (928 575 521 01) is a big single rectangular section of plastic that attaches circumferentially to the vertical frame. The part that you received was broken in half and you only got one piece. I would talk to your vendor.....
