Default PSD System Warning - Reservoir In Stock

In another thread we discussed the need to flush the PSD on a regular basis or risk damage to the unit as a whole. We also found that like the Power Steering reservoir the PSD reservoir has an itegral filter which also needs replacing. I have also learned that the filter incorporates a non return valve. Replacement of the filter , even if we could find a replacement, is not easy.

I highly recomend that changing the reservoir be added to the list when flushing the PSD every two years.

Porsche told me the reservoir was NLA so I ordered another 20 to try and stimulate more stock.

I have 19 in stock and ready to ship at $35 each.

I have also concluded an agreement with a German company who rebuild and test our PSD system. I can offer a complete rebuild PSD system - plug and play - for $1350. There will be a core charge to ensure return of the bad PSD.

Attached are some pictures of a used filter - you have been warned.

Roger,

Will the reconditioned units include a new reservoir/filter combination? Even if they do, sounds like something to put on the list of things to keep in the garage "for just such an emergency." That said, please tack one on to my pending order.

Roger please send me one and a bill when you have an opportunity, no rush though.

If I'm not mistaken, there are two blue lines which have crush fittings which need to be replaced when you change the reservoir. Dave C also suggested changing the hose and fittings along with the reservoir for peace of mind.

Roger can provide pricing and availability for the blue hose and all necessary fittings.

Two crimp-type clamps are necessary. I suggest having the blue hoses and extra clamps on-hand in case they are needed.

1 928.315.098.01 Hose Line Return (to PSD res)
1 928.315.801.00 Feed Line (from PSD Res)
2 N.013.811.1 Sealing Rings (probably same as for fuel filter)
3 999.512.532.00 Clip (Crimp-Type Hose Clamp - diameter of "Blue" hose)

One of those blue hoses is not JUST a blue hose - it has a crimped-on banjo bolt fitting. The fitting might be reusable through use of Dremel and a fourth crimp-clamp. Dunno yet...

Just replaced mine with one I got from Roger. The inner filter was nasty as hell and it can't be serviced. $35 is cheap insurance for your PSD.

Roger,
Just a thought, as a temporary fix, would it be possible to reuse the metal portion of the filter assembly
and find a filter company that could supply the paper element portion only. We could gather up a batch
of used filters, strip the paper element off and have the metal pieces cleaned up (rust removed)
then reassemble it. It could be on an core exchange basis. This would would save a lot of PSD units
from an early death, I don't think changing the fluid alone is enough, kinda like changing the oil in
your motor but not changing the filter.
