Roger, to put things into perspective can you state how many miles were on the car which you pulled that filter from? It would also help to know if the car has had regular maintenance or if it has been neglected. Thanks!

Well I do not know so I will find out.
It was a European car.
I am amazed at how many cars have not had the PSD serviced at all.
Herman and Tom your orders are noted and will be executed in normal 928sRus fashion.

As I suspect none of these cars have ever had the reservoir replaced, they must be at least 15-17 years old. And I'm pretty sure (if they are like mine was) the original fluid was probably still in there for 10+ years.
I would bet that if you replaced it, with regular fluid changes, the reservoir would last another 15+ years if not longer.
I just changed my fluid, so I think I'm good for a bit, but I'd like to have one in reserve for the next fluid change.
Roger, can you send me one please? Thanx.

This is my theory as well. My '91 has had its PSD flushed like clockwork since new. I'm debating on whether or not to R&R my PSD res to verify my theory.

Roger, send me one of them things.
Flushed my PSD, it was very dirty and low...probly never been serviced...now it leaks!?!. Mechanic says it's the main connection to the pump. That check valve in the filter has me wondering so thought I would get a new reservoir while they can be had. However, peaking at it while on the lift, the reservoir looked brand new.

I would have to agree with others that regular fluid flushes should negate the need for regular replacement of the reservoir. I haven't replaced my original yet but I will probably do it at the end of this season or early next year.

Having replaced a couple of PSD and done many flushes, I'd say that this is something that is very necessary to do. We've had 3 PSD pump failures that I've encountered in the last 4 months. I hope Rog has one of these left so I can do the '90's also.

Has anyone posted the steps to replace the resv/filter/check valve? Sean, when you looked at mine, I think you said the pump had juice but was not operating, so it was just plain dead. Any possibility the resv/filter/check valve would be worth trying before throwing in the towel and just switching out the whole thing?

The filter was from a pump that failed and had a lot of water and general crap in the system.
Mileage unknown.
The German company recomends replacement every two years because of the filter - not the reservoir.
I am working on the list of additional parts that may be needed for the swap - thanks to Dave Chamberland for the main part numbers.

Forgive me if I've missed the description/report of a reservoir R&R, but thinking about actually doing it raises a question: On the reservoir there are 2 blue hoses o' death that are clamped by little oetiker-type crimp clamps- Do people re-use these, or source new ones for the R&R, or use worm clamps? Just curious.
